You didn't hear the story about how I discovered slash? Beginning of freshman year I was a huge J/S shipper. I even used to write horrible shipfic (which, I'm ashamed to say, is still up at fanfiction.net. Better than syrup of ipacac, I tell ya). Then I joined the scifi.com bboards and met Lunie and she rec'ed Dr. Jackson's Diary. She warned that it was slash, but I had no clue what that meant. I started reading it and got hooked by the humor before I figured out what slash was. Almost put it down when I realized that the person Daniel was lusting after really was Jack. But I'd enjoyed it so far so I kept going. I didn't know the fic was NC-17 either. You can just imagine me sitting at the computer, jaw dropped, going "That can really go there?!" Almost skipped all the sex scenes, but I was afraid I was gonna miss something really funny. Of course, I discovered I liked the hot man sex and the rest was history.
