4x16 Promo Flailing
Mar. 14th, 2009 12:23 amAnd meta type stuff. I'm supposed to be in bed, but I started brushing my teeth and my brain went kersplodey so I need to get this out so hopefully I can sleep...
OK, so. Dean was the first seal broken to start the apocalypse. Shouldn't the angels have known this?? Especially Castiel, who has apparently been watching Dean for quite some time (possibly before going to hell). So, if they did know, why didn't they stop it? And if they did know and didn't stop it and Dean find out? Holy shit, is he gonna be fucking pissed! Perhaps he does find out and he's the one that beats the shit out of Cas from the promo pics. zldkfj;adsig Because, seriously, why would the angels not want to stop the very first seal if they could?
Then, I remembered
brihana25's post from a few days ago about who the various demons and angels are supposed to be according to our current mythology. This is what she dug up about Uriel:
Uriel: "Fire of God" ... appears as the Angel of Repentance, who is graphically represented as being as pitiless as any demon. - Again, they matched the character and the name perfectly. He's one of the archangels, a warrior, and one of the seven angels that's supposed to rule Earth after the apocalypse.
Did Uriel somehow keep Castiel from dragging Dean out of hell before he broke the seal? Holy shit. This show is going to kill me, I swear.
And then there's Sam drinking Ruby's blood. Which, seems to possibly be some sort of flashback, maybe, as that could possibly be the origin of Super Powerful Sam from last week's episode. If so, though, is Ruby really THAT powerful? I don't think so. This just makes me think even more that Ruby is actually Lilith. Cos there was that look she had, too. She is UP TO SOMETHING. BIG TIME.
Watch this all get Jossed next week... LOL
OK. I'm going to bed. Feel free to flail in the comments and I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Date: 2009-03-14 05:52 am (UTC)I agree with you that Ruby 2.0 (if that is her real name *nudgenudge*) is up to no good. We saw that smile on her face, but Sam didn't (mainly because he was too busy playing vampire/incubus with the demon bitch).
I can't decide if I think Cas wasn't ordered to get Dean until he'd already been broken, or if it just took him 4 months to find him.
What I am beginning to suspect, though, is that there is no "big role" for Dean in what's coming - at least as far as God and the angels are concerned. When Alastair broke him, he broke the first seal - Dean's served his purpose and started the apocalypse.
I'm seriously beginning to think that they weren't trying to save him, they were just trying to stop him. And because they couldn't, now they're forcing him to repent (by trying to keep the other seals from being broken)... but they haven't told him any of this.
And then come the even greater implications. Azazel knew *all* of this at the end of S1. Why do I think that? Look at how much it cost John to get him back. He was definitely worth more dead than he was alive. The even *bigger* implication is with God's omniscience, if Azazel knew all this, then God knew it, too. And if God didn't want the apocalypse to start, then Dean never would have made it into Hell in the first place, because He'd have saved him then.
Now, depending on how closely the mythology they're following aligns with good old-fashioned Revelations... in Revelations, it's not the forces of evil who open those seals - it's the forces of Heaven. And the first seal isn't opened by a "righteous man," but by the Lamb himself.
Now, isn't that a lovely thought to go to sleep on?

Date: 2009-03-14 05:53 am (UTC)Hey maybe the reason that is why she is able to get out of the pit is precisely because Dean broke the first seal.

It's a lovely thought to wake up to :) You know, if we're all wrong in assuming Dean was the first seal to break then we should write it in as part of our fic backstory, cuz this shit is just too good to pass up :)
And I'm starting to come around to the idea that Lilith=Ruby, especially with that look she gave Sam when he was slurping her blood.
AND if Dean *was* the first seal? Then Sam is *totally* the last one.

Date: 2009-03-14 02:45 pm (UTC)That totally makes sense. Because why is it Sam & Dean seem to be the only ones going after the seals? Surely other hunters could be working on it.
Man, the rest of this season is going to be crazy!!

Date: 2009-03-14 02:46 pm (UTC)YES. Totally. I actually read a fic where the last seal was Sam killing Lilith and whoever did that became the vessel for Lucifer. It was pretty awesome.
