AFAIK, nothing. I get friended by them maybe 2-3x a month, but pretty soon after the account is deleted. :)

ps I think I FLocked a few more entries that usually I wouldn't have...

If you hover over the small userpic icon next to the name you get a menu window. There is an option to report a bot. Clicking the link takes you to the appropriate reporting page with the user's name already filled in. Just click submit. It's a lot easier now than it was before. And they generally get deleted within a few hours. :-)

Ah, I did not know that. Thanks!

I got 3 just the other day. That brings it up to about 9 this month. I try to report them as spam but the accounts are always deleted. I think it's the same person who friends me too because all the accounts had the same userpic.

How do you know if it's a bot? It sounds scary. I want to know what to look out for!

The most direct tell-tale is that the journal is in Russian. (Technically the Cyrillic alphabet because it may be in Ukrainian, but most of them tend to be Russian.) Next is that the journal only has a few entries but hundreds of "friends". Usually the ones I encounter have about 3 entries containing link-dumps for porn and pharmaceuticals.

Thanks for the tip! I got friended by someone with no entries and very few people who had friended them a couple of weeks back, but the journal was in English, so I'm not quite as alarmed now.
