Something just occurred to me - Why were they using rock salt on demons? I thought that only worked on ghosts?

Well, salt definitely keeps demons out, so I imagine that the rock salt rounds at least slow demons down, and without too much damage to the host. They also used them on demons in Jus In Bello, if I remember correctly.

I seem to recall that salt in general keeps demons out, same as a ghost. Unless you are a YED class of demon, anyway :)

Also, it's supposed to sting or something, like holy water. I remember the question came up as to why/how Ruby would be able to stand eating salted fries for that very reason.

Well, I know for sure they kept demons locked inside a closet in Devil's trap by pouring salt down around the door. I don't remember specifically anything demonic in family remains because if I recall correctly they thought the girl was a ghost.
