Sorry, have to squee for a moment

Over at the [livejournal.com profile] spn_epicontest that I participate in, they do this thing between each season where it's a special challenge to create a new header/banner for the community to use during the next season run of challenges. I've entered a few of these before, but nothing's come of it. Which is fine, I've always felt my larger images were just kind of Meh. I'm much better on a smaller canvas. Well, guess what? I WON THE HEADER CHALLENGE FOR SEASON 4!!! I was really surprised cos there were a lot of really good entries this time around and I wasn't sure how people would react to the image I decided to use. But, apparently they liked it! LOL Yay!! Great way to start my day. :-D

Wow! Go you! The colors on the header are really nice. How did you get the yellows and reds to look like that? You don't have to explain all, just a "I used X and Y" :)

Thanks!

Um, I will have to double check when I get home. There's a couple different textures on there and I don't remember off hand what I did exactly with each of them... :-)

OK, I did do what I thought I did. The texture is actually the bottom layer with the screencap set on Linear Light above it (plus a screen and softlight layer for brightness/contrast). Then there's another texture on top that's like a big light blur. I used that to help cover over the edge of the screencap since it wasn't wide enough for what I wanted to do.
