Daniel floated through the noiseless void. He was still getting used to this higher being business. The absolute lack of anything was the strangest thing. Suddenly, he heard a voice in the darkness.
"Beati pacifi," it said.
Blessed are the peacemakers, Daniel translated. Is that what he was now? A peacemaker?
"Yes, Daniel Jackson," the voice confirmed. "You are."
"Who are you?" Daniel asked.
"I am Castiel. An angel of the Lord."
"Am I an angel?"
"No, Daniel. You are not. But if you choose, you can still do good."
"But how? There are so many rules."
"You must try."
