It's the end of an era

My parent's house is empty. :-( The new owners closed today, they close tomorrow on their new house.

This is kind of weird. We moved into that house when I was 3. I'll be turning 31 this year. That's a really long time in one place. I turned in my key last week. It really is quite odd to think about.

My brother is coming up tomorrow to help them move into the new place. Then we're going to go over on Sunday for dinner. The new place is nice. Much smaller since it's just the two of them now.

So, yeah. The end of an era....

I knowwhat you mean - today my Grandparents are moving out of their family home, that they've lived in since my MUM was small! Their new place is way smaller, which is the whole point as grandparents in their mid-80's shouldn't have to slave all day every day to maintain a huge 4 bedroom house with big yard and vege garden. We're pleased that it was able to be their choice and they haven't been forced into it through sickness or death. I think the movers are due there in 30 mins, wonder how things are going.....

That is good. It is a sad thing, but in the end it's much better for everyone. And my parents are moving into a townhouse community so they don't even have to worry about any sort of lawn/snow maintenance anymore. This makes my dad VERY HAPPY. LOL
