Random Con Adventures
Oct. 24th, 2010 06:58 pmThis afternoon, I randomly stopped by the Star Trek Con going on here in fabulous Chicago. Karen had texted that she was actually in town and would be there, so I should stop by. So, I did1 I was only there for a couple hours and we got to see...
CHRISTOPHER LLOYD!
Yes, THAT Christopher Lloyd who was Doc Brown. :-) It was his first convention ever, but he was really cool. Good story-teller (even if he did get Anthony Hopkins and Bob Hoskins confused. LOL)
I did actually manage to ask a question about Back to the Future. It was about how Eric Stoltz had originally been cast as Marty then recast with Michael J. Fox and how it was having to go back and refilm stuff. Well, apparently they had been filming for 6 weeks when the recasting happened. Which is a long time in movie filming. They were on the nightshoots for the scene in the beginning when Marty first sees the Delorian do its thing in the mall parking lot. They came back from lunch and all the suits were there and they just announced it. Everyone was sad, of course. And it wasn't that Eric was doing a bad job, it was just that they were looking for someone with a bit more comedic edge to them, so they got Michael. He was worried about refilming but he and Michael instantly got along and had great chemistry so it was really easy. :-)
What else....
He enjoyed playing a Klingon. He was quite impressed that there was actually a fully developed language and not just random syllables and grunts to fake a language.
That's pretty much all the specifics. He has fond memories of pretty much everything he's worked on. Worked with some good people. And, yeah. Nice guy. :-)
