Silly Laundry Question

I have several sweaters and t-shirts that are just plain 100% cotton that the laundering instructions are hand wash/gentle cycle and then lay flat to dry. My question is - would it be so horrible to put them int he dryer on low temperature to dry? Because otherwise I've got a dozen tops hanging all over everything and then I have to iron them and ironing t-shirts is a bit ridiculous to me. They're plain. There's no decoration on them. Is it a shrinkage issue since they're 100% cotton?

It is definitely a shrinkage issue. If your cotton garments get hot, they shrink. Your nice long pieces will get shorter and wider, which I don't want. If your dryer has a cool setting, they should be okay. But I personally do not risk it.

Ok, I'm a lazy washer.... I throw everything in the wash (even those that say hand wash only) The only things I don't throw into the wash are things that say 'dry clean only'. Then most will be dried normally, but there are some I'll put on the 'delicate' or 'air fluff' setting. (low or no heat)
