What are you doing working on a fic in Vegas? Go take in a show or something.
And isn't there a music scene in chicago? It may not be *the* place, but I imagine there are some recording studios. And besides, if he's a big enough star, he can set up shop wherever he wants (and would, theoretically, have the money to jet back and forth--chicago to ohio wouldn't take long at all).
