So, [livejournal.com profile] queeneve_84's completely whacked out theory about River Song WAS TRUE!!! Ever since she posited that, I've been in love with that idea and I was soooooooo happy to see it come true. I think it's a phenomenal twist/plot development/whatever.

But now we have to wait til THE FALL to find out how the rest of the story goes?!?! Damn British TV seasons....... :-P

The US is a week behind the UK in episodes. So if you're watching just on BBC America you may not have seen this episode yet.

I had always thought there was some connection between River and Pond, being bodies of water. I wasn't really keen on the idea of the mother/daughter aspect - it seemed too simple - but it played out nicely and I'm eager to see where it goes.

I am a little concerned that every time River shows up it's supposed to be before the last time we've seen her, but looking back on her previous appearances there seems to be some inconsistencies in what she knows. For instance, shouldn't she have recognized the astronaut suit? She's also made it sound like she encountered several of the Doctor's regenerations, but now we're getting dangerously close to being exclusively Eleven with her final moment with Ten. It just seems too much at once I guess.

There do seem to be some discrepancies about how River said her relationship with The Doctor worked. But I'm hoping it'll all get explained in the fall. Plus, we haven't been with her the whole time. It's very possible she had some encounters with Twelve or previous incarnations we just never saw. *shrug*

I guess we'll see....

Mmm. We just saw the episode that shows that Amy has really been a "Flesh" creature all along--or for as long as I can figure out, I'm not sure how long. And the woman peeking through the windows at her wearing an eyepatch looked a lot like River. But I'm not sure.

Yeah, that's one episode behind - The Almost People. The ep that airs next week here is A Good Man Goes To War which explains all this. :-)

LOL, okay, I thought The Almost People was the last ep of this part of the season! That's what I told my husband. Oh well, he'll be happy to know they're not leaving us dangling in the wind THAT badly.

Agreed, that was a good twist in the plot! I ended up flailing throughout the episode and need to rewatch it in order to fully pick everything out. And we still have to figure out who the little girl is...

The little girl is River. Which is kind of weird, because wouldn't River have recognized herself when they were on the beach and she showed up?

that's what I orginally thought but at the same time, when she was looking at the spacesuit wouldn't River have recoginized it? Or she could be "spoilers!"-ing again. Or this is Moffat playing mind games with everybody....

HOLLA! I love when brain-cannon becomes actual cannon. I knew I was right the second she named the girl melody. I totally had a panic attack.

Though I must say, I hate the idea of the doctor having an *ahem* regular relationship with anyone, but I'm interested to see how it all plays out.

And I'll bet river did recognize herself. After all, why do you think she's in prison?

Yup. She's in prison cos she killed The Doctor. And having known him and the whole "Spoilers!" thing, knew she couldn't say anything. I am anxiously awaiting the rest of the season in the fall to see what happens next!!
