Sorry, but HELL NO

My mother-in-law likes to take a family photo every year to send out with Christmas cards. As one of her sons is now a photographer, we usually take the picture some weekend when everyone is together. This year, we did it over the summer at their lake house (I know, I know) and it was the biggest damn mess ever. My parents had come with us that weekend and it was supposed to be a nice, relaxing time. Wrong.

IT TOOK THREE FUCKING HOURS TO TAKE ONE DAMN PHOTO. My parents, meanwhile, were stuck in the house, completely forgotten and neglected. RUDE.

I get an email this morning from her saying that she wants to take a picture again on Thanksgiving because, “We can do better.”

FUCK NO.

I am hosting Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is being done at MY HOUSE with both our families together. Thanksgiving is NOT getting hijacked for three more hours while we try and take this stupid picture we already have.

Now, I just have to try and convince my husband to tell her NO. Cos it is NOT HAPPENING. And if she insists, I won’t be in it. Have fun. See ya later.

3 hours? Oh my jolly goodnight. I hope you can work you magic on the hubby and talk him around to your point of view.

We just did something like that, my son in law is a photographer, and we went up to the mountains and we did have fun, BUT we left extended family out of it. My brothers, their families, my sister, her child ( and she wanted the baby daddy whom she is no longer with and none of us like) were all suppose to go and I was dreading it, even though we all get along. Trying to get that many kids to smile at once is a nightmare! I was happy when they all dropped out. One of these days maybe, but not soon.
Good luck with getting out of the picture and with Thanksgiving!

Husband has agreed to tell his mom NO. Not sure if he's done it yet, but there will be no picture on Thanksgiving. :-)
