39 days to the Chicago Stargate Convention!!
So, this was a very exciting weekend. TV wise, anyway. :-)
First off, Friday night, season premieres of Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis. Really great. Cannot wait for the rest of the seasons.
I'm really loving the new SG-1. I think General Landry is great. I loved the interaction between him and Daniel in the briefing room. The whole get to the point thing was great. And you can tell he is really a different kind of guy from Hammond and O'Neill. Hammond probably would have sat there, listening politely asking a few questions to try and prod Daniel to get to the important stuff. Jack would have listened for about 2 seconds before saying "Daniel!" in that way he has and Daniel would have skipped ahead to the important stuff. So, I like Landry. Great guy. And it's Beau Bridges!!! :-)
I also really like Ben Browder. I think Mitchell is great. Total breath of fresh air into the team. That will hopefully stay more than "SG-Me"! That moment with him and Teal'c in the cave with the "Bullets bounce!" was great. He's got that sense of humor that I think you need to work at the SGC but it's completely different from Jack's, which is good. I also like the interaction between him and Daniel. I hope we get to see some good stuff between them this year.
And how much do I love Vala? :-D I want to be her. Can I be her? She's just fantastic! "Let's make babies!" Yes, Daniel, please. Let's! She's totally self-centered and irrevrent and doesn't give a shit about anyone but herself and I love it! I'm so happy we have her for the first 5 eps. I hope we get more.
1 odd thing - What was with Sam giving Mitchell the Congressional medal? Where was Jack? Or Hammond? I just didn't really get that.
1 bad thing - The theme song. They sooooooooo need to bring it back. That opening segment just SUCKED!! I think I have to go sign the petition now.
Only 3 eps of Queer as Folk left! And last night's ep was just OMG!! As you can see by my post from last night. :-)
I know I'm new to the QAF fandom, but I'm really getting sucked in to the whole thing. I still cannot get over the fact that Brian said "I love you". I ended up taping the repeat at 10:00 last night just so I could watch that scene again. Which I did, twice, before I left for work this morning. And Michael, OMG. He HAS to be OK. He just has to. They cannot do that to us. To Ben and Debbie and Brian. Gah! And poor Drew. How difficult must things be for him right now? I can't even imagine. I mean, he finally has the courage to come out and be who he is and loses everything that made him who he was. He literally has nothing. While I was a little pissed at him for brushing off Emmett like that, I can see where he's coming from. Sort of. Having to rediscover who you are at 30-something must be a bit daunting. I can't even imagine.
Oh! I saw Charlie and Chocolate Factory this weekend. It was so awesome! But you really have to be a fan of Tim Burton to like it. It is really weird and twisted, but I totally loved it. If you like Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Go see it. Right now. Drop whatever you are doing and go see this movie! I command it!
OK. I guess I should go do some work now. Later!
