I was wandering around the 'net this morning and came across a fanfic page where the author had a QAF/Stargate crossover. Awesome! My two favorite fandoms in one. So, I copied it into Word so I could read it at work when I was bored and during lunch. And it started off really well. It was all greatly in character, excellent grammar and spelling.

And then it fell apart.... It was like whoever wrote it had their 12 year old sister take over. Suddenly, they were referring to the Asgard Freya. When just a few chapters before, we were talking to the Tok'ra Freya (which is correct). I'm guessing the Asgard they meant was Freyr and perhaps spellcheck changed it and they never caught it. Who knows. Oh! And there were British-isms all over the place - arse, holiday (as in going on holiday), etc. That has got to be my biggest pet peeve. I mean, if you see these shows in the UK, you see them with the original dialogue. They don't get redubbed. Therefore, you should know that we call those things in buildings that move you up and down ELEVATORS. LIFTS are something men would put in their shoes to make them taller. Oy.

Anyway.... I just got disappointed and couldn't even finish it. And I so wanted to! The plot was really, really good. But I just couldn't.

This post is somewhat of a continuation of my replu to black_berry's post here about how fans claim to know Brian better than Cowlip. I didn't want to completely hi-jack her post with my comments, so I'll continue here.

I was thinking about this when I ran out for lunch today. It seems to me that most people's issues with Brian in Season 5 is the complete 180 he seemed to do and the lack of explanation given for it. Now, as BB said, that I completely agree with, Brian is Cowlip's creation and they can do whatever they want with him. But to me, what Brian did (the whole marriage/"I love you" thing) was completely in character. Just think for a minute - Brian is a very extreme kind of person, it's all or nothing with him. There is no gray area, it's black or white, yes or no. So when he finally came to his senses and realized that he really did love Justin (like we all knew), he was going to have Justin. To him, that meant marriage and all that stuff. Cos that's all he knew. Even if he didn't "believe" in it, that's how he knew to commit to someone.

OMG. I have been waiting to read A Thousand Beautiful Things by Lemon Bar until it was finished. It finally is. I got to chapter 2 and had to stop reading cos it was spelled KINNETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

WTF is wrong with people? It's spelled out very clearly on the show that it is spelled with a K. If you're that big of a fan learn to spell it right!!! s;oritusp-9e0gtae[sop5itgj

Would it be totally rude of me to leave a review telling her this?

Please excuse me for a moment, but I need to get a few things off my chest:

1) Brian's company is called Kinnetik. If you spell it with a "c" at the end, you better only use one "n" and be talking about the energy of a moving object.
2) Brian calles Michael Mikey. Mickey is the name of a cartoon mouse created by Walt Disney in 1928.
3) Draws is a verb that describes what Justin does with pen and paper. Drawers are the things people keep their clothes in in the bedroom.
4) Brian does not call Justin "baby". Ever. He calls Justin, Justin. There occasional sarcastic/drunk "Sunshine" may make an appearance, and that weird phase at the beginning of Season 2 with "Sonny Boy." But not "baby". EVER.

(Would it be rude of me to post ^that at queerasfolkfans or bjfic? I am just so sick of seeing so many stories that make these stupid mistakes. It makes me stop reading the story as soon as I see it!)

And if you're going to make a fanvid, try to make the clips match with the lyrics somewhat. I have seen so many vids recently that are basically random clips that have nothing to do with the song. That's stupid and defeats the purpose of making the vid in the first place. If you have a song that 3:26, don't just put together a bunch of clips that add up to that length. I will not watch it nor anything else you make.

Sort of. Well, yesterday, anyway. :-D Yesterday was cleaning day around the apartment and I had no plans to leave the place all day. So I lounged around in faded jeans and a white tank all day. How pathetic am I? It was really comfortable though. I can see why it's one of Brian's favorite things to wear. Hehe.

I finally get to watch Stargate tonight!! It seems like it's been forever since I last watched an episode. Is probably last Monday. Oy. And they are showing one of my fave eps - Ascension. Sean Patrick Flannery is so hot. LOVED him in Boondock Saints. And then, it's an Atlantis marathon!! Including Duet! Yay!!! :-D

Oh! I have a quick question for anyone who gets the official Stargate Magazine - the last issue I received was the double year-end yearbook kinda thing. Has the next issue come out yet? I've seen a couple comments here and there about some things, but I'm not sure if it's speculation about what was supposed to be in the new issue, or if it's actually out yet.
