switch842I’ve been meaning to update for awhile, so here are some random thoughts on some random things.
SCI-FI FRIDAY
What’s happened with SG-1? It was sooooo good at the beginning of the season. The first five episodes were so fantastic and amazing and got me so pumped for the rest of the year. And then, it just crapped out. Amazingly, it seemed to happen at the time Vala left and Sam came back. Hmm, coincidence? It just seems like over the last few years, the writers/PTB have gotten into a mode of “Look! Sam’s a girl! See?! Isn’t it great? And look how smart she is. And how beautiful. And how men all over the galaxy and in every dimension fall to worship at her feet.” Blech. What happened to the old Sam? The soldier Sam where it didn’t matter that she was a girl. She did her job and was damn good at it. She didn’t try to solve every problem by herself (or selves). Now, I love Amanda. I think she’s great and wonderful and so nice. It’s just such a shame to be seeing her character written this way. I did read her interview on Gateworld and I was so happy to see that Amanda hated Gemini like everyone else did. I was glad she didn’t try to defend it, cos in my opinion, there is nothing redeemable about that ep.
I think I know why TPTB are doing what they’re doing with Cam. We’ve had 8 seasons to get to know all the other characters and learn their stories. A few even from the movie. And they knew, pretty much right off the bat, that they would have 4 seasons to tell a lot of those back stories. But with Cam, we don’t know how much longer the show is going to be around so they have to cram as much Cam at us as they can every week. I can understand that, I just wish they didn’t have to do it at the expense of the rest of the case. Daniel has been virtually non-existent since Vala left. I really hope that when she comes back we get to see more of Daniel. Not just with Vala, but just in general would be good, too.
Now, Atlantis I am still liking for the most part. Last week’s ep was kind of a cop-out at the end, but that’s OK. And I totally loved this week’s ep. But I so adore Rodney, so that’s to be expected. Even though when Sam showed up, it was all “Look! Sam’s a girl! She’s wearing pink and everything!” kinda thing. But since it was Rodney’s fantasy, it was a little easier to deal with.
WEDDING STUFF
Got the church booked. Yay! Now I just need to figure out what to do for an altar arrangement. The altar is basically just a huge slab of marble. So, I dunno. I know I don’t want anything foofy and huge and with stuff sticking out everywhere. I just don’t quite know what I do want.
Also finished (kinda) some more of the invitation stuff. Since we booked the church, we set the time and place so I got all that down. Got the Map/Direction card done, the RSVP card, just need to make up the Reception Card.
Met with one photographer. Nice guy. Much better in person than on the phone. I guess a lot of photographers are doing this new style of album since digital is so good, where the pictures are actually printed onto the page, instead of photos stuck in frames. So, they can do these really cool collage type thing and other effects like ghosting and stuff. It was really cool. A little pricey, but you can see the quality definitely holds up to the pricing. Meeting another photographer Wed, so we’ll see how that goes.
MISC STUFF
Swarmed. Wow, that was a really bad movie. Not sure if it’s quite up to the badness of Sumuru, but it’s pretty close. I think Sumuru had a much larger cheese factor behind it. But, still, both are pretty bad.
What else? I’ve been horribly neglecting my fic writing duties. I feel so bad. But RL has gotten so crazy, I just like don’t have any time any more. It’s driving me nuts!! I want to write, I really do. There’s just no time anymore!
Oh! Someone wrote House RPS!! I haven’t read it yet. Not sure if I want to. That one just seems a little off to me. I get the QAF one cos Gale and Randy were so doing it. But House, I just get it with the characters not the actors.
Remember my post about the new internet blockage stuff at work? Well, I tried to go to jd-divas to see if that still worked. Apparently, it’s classified as a “Malicious Website”! How funny is that? I thought it was amusing. Oh, and MSOL is blocked, too. Pretty much all the SG sites are. *sigh*
I think that’s all. I have this nagging feeling like I’m forgetting something, though. Oh, well. It will probably come to me in the middle of the night. :-D
