Something my hubby brough up last night after the whole cancellation thing, and after mulling it around, it kind of makes sense. I really don't think this is it, cos if it is, then it's just stupid. But I could see this as a possibility.

What if SciFi is "cancelling" the series as a way to try and get more money out of MGM? They don't own the series, so they don't see any of that revenue from merchandising that MGM gets. What if they just want more money for airing the show? Sure, if this is true (and there has been no evidence that it is other than the strange workings of my husband's mind), then it's a really stupid move on behalf of Skiffy and they've just pissed off a lot of fans for nothing.

Thoughts? Plausability? Yes? No?

You know that is a really good point he made. Because if they canceled it for that reason it would make more sense since it cost quite a bit to produce each show. That would totally rock if MGM did front the money. I'm sure SCIFI got bombarded with e-mails yesterday and hopefuly so did MGM ;)

It makes sense to me. I think Sci Fi owns a part of Sg-1 as far as DVD's and syndication is concerned...I think, don't quote me on it, but I coulda sworn I read it somewhere. If my brain wasn't so tired, I might remember. But it is possible that Sci Fi is trying to get more money outta MGM, but it's doubtful. It just seems like their programming president got her degree in broadcasting from a cracker jack box....
