I have been the biggest ditz this week
Oct. 27th, 2006 01:05 pmI don't know what my problem is, but I'm just an absolute moron. It was very frustrating especially when it lead to me thinking my car had been towed.
The parking garage for our complex is under construction. They are adding a level to the top and also extending it across the street to make a companion garage. While this is going on, they are also painting the inside of the existing garage. It all looks very nice when completed but is a pain in the ass because parking sucks as the top level is closed and other rows are blocked off as well.
OK, this is the basic layout of the garage. The gray blocks are where cars park, and there are also spots along the front and back walls.

As you can see, there isn't one direction for up and one for down, so it can be a little harrowing to avoid accidents sometimes. Here's some photos from my camera phone:
This one is looking up one of the end aisles towards the BACK (there is a stairwell in the back left corner):

This one is looking toward the FRONT (note the elebator as that will come in to play):

This is also where the walkway over the street to the building is. It's blurry, but kind of over on the left of the pic.
And then this is looking along the front wall so you can see the middle aisles and how it all works:

So, I came home from rehearsal late Monday night and as such, there were no good parking spaces left. So I end up having to go to the third floor, parking in the middle aisle that faces the outer wall opposite of the elevator.

My car would have been up against that white pillar behind the one with the red sign.
Everyone with me so far? OK. So, my car was basically straight out from where the elevator is located on the third floor.
Tuesday I go to leave and end up walking across the street level as I had to drop some things off in the mailbox. I was then going to take the elevator up to the third floor to get to my car. However, they apparently decided to start working on bricking out the new elevator shaft that will be right next to the old one, so that was blocked off. I had to walk all the way to the back of the garage and walk up the stairs. So, I get to the third floor and walk up and to the left to get to my car. Only, it's not there. WTF? Where the hell is my car? I start freaking out thinking the village towed my car for no good reason blah blah blah and I was already running late cos my alarm didn't go off. So, ugh. Luckily I had the keys to my husbands car in my purse and I start to walk down the aisles to where his car is. When what do I see?? My car!! When I came out of the stairs, I should have gone down the aisle as by going up, I was on the fourth floor. Ugh. Almost had a heart attack, but everything is fine. Phew!
And then yesterday, as I was putting my contacts in, I put the right one in and then something distracted me for a second. So for some reason, when I took the left one out of the case, I put it in my right eye. Yes, I put both contacts in one eye and was confused for a minute as to why everything looked so fucked up.
I'm so glad today is Friday.....
