It's here folks. The end of SG-1 as we know it. Yes it will live on in DVD movies and sort of in Atlantis. But it will never be as we know it to be now.

I'm one of those that came into the fandom somewhat late. I actually did not start watching the show until Season 7. When it first started airing, I did not have Showtime, so couldn't watch it. I do remember seeing the movie and hearing about the show, though. I think one of my brothers in college had Showtime and was watching. He would come home and tell me about. And I would hate him for getting to watch the cool show I couldn't! :-P

Anyway, then I moved into my own place and Stargate moved to the SciFi channel. I tuned into the season premiere and what do I see? A naked Michael Shanks. Well, let me tell you, that's quite a way to hook a girl into ahow! LOL. Then I found the daily 5:00 showings and the Monday night blocks and got caught up on many of the episodes. But, let me tell you, it confused the heck out of me! It was all out of order. Daniel was dead. Daniel was alive. Daniel wasn't there at all. What the heck was going on?!?! Then I discovered the DVDs. And bought them all! Not all at once, but over the course of a few months.

And the more I saw, the more I was hooked. I LOVED this show. I'd never gotten this attached to a show before. It was amazing! The adventures, the new cultures, it was unlike anything I'd seen before. I needed to find more people like me, but my apartment didn't have internet, so I was limited to what I could get to at work.

Enter, GATEWORLD! At first, I really thought it was the "official" site. It had everything I wanted - information, more fans, pictures and fanfic. Yay!! I met some really amazing people.

Then came the conventions. My first convention was a really last minute thing. I came to the Creation page from somewhere else (Our Stargate, maybe?) and saw that Michael was going to be less than 20 minutes from my place!! OMG!! I had to go. I HAD to go. So I went and met even more amazing wonderful people. Found LiveJournal. Met more amazing wonderful people. Went to more conventions! More amazing wonderful people!! I have met some of my closest friends through this fandom.

That's really what all this means to me. Yes, the show is great and amazing, etc. But it's really the fans and world it brought me into that I am the most thankful for. All of you, that I have met because of Stargate, it's so amazing when you really think about it. I really, really hope that once the show is over this community stays around. I hope we don't disappear. I don't think we will. There's still lots more stories to tell.

I'll be back later with my thoughts on the finale. After I finish bawling my eyes out (again).
