We got kicked out of our room!

Yes, ladies and gents, the hotel staff came by last night and kicked us out of our room. But, they were really nice about it. It was prob about 1:00 am, we had a lot of people and were being very loud and boisterous as we are wont to do. Nice man came and said we couldn't have that many people in the room, but that we were more than welcome to take all our shit down to the bar in the lobby that had closed and continue the party there. So we did! I went to bed about 3:15. Oy....
So, the weekend started off kind of bad on Thursday with everyone's planes being delayed cos of the shitty weather here. Really bad thunderstorms, terribly high winds, 100 year old trees were being uprooted. We lost power at home. It was bad. But, by midnight everyone had made it and we were happy.
Friday was Carmen Argenziano and Obi Ndefo, whom they got to replace Teryl at the last minute. Carmen was supposed to be up first, but his flight from the night before was canceled so he ended up having to fly in in the morning. Luckily, Obi was there so they just kind of flopped schedules. Obi plays Rak'nor for those not in the know. He was interesting. Nice guy, the crowd in the theater was very thin at that point as there were still a lot of people who probably couldn't make it in til that morning. So, his talk was just kind of OK. He mentioned that he had been acting since he was a little kid and that Carmen was actually a family friend. So, that was interesting. He played a Klingon on DS9, as well.
Then there was a trivia competition. I stumped Erin and won the Stargate Atlantis 2008 calendar. Yay! Free stuff!! :-) Then we had to make a Target run before Carmen cos Erin's batteries died in her camera. Oops.
Carmen!! Once again, Carmen was getting completely sloshed on white wine. Very nice man, very toasted. I asked a question. And the first time around, my tongue got ahead of my mouth, so I went into the "Blah blah blah, blah blah, blah blah blah" thing that you do. Carmen was very nice, said it happened to everyone but this time to "articulate woman!" So, I did much better the second time. I asked if he had ever gone on any auditions where he thought he had done really well, but for some reason, didn't get the part and if he learned anything from it. First, he said that was a very nice and mature question. :-) Then, he basically said not really. He generally knew when he had done well and when he hadn't. So, there weren't too many surprises.
Then he talked about Amanda and how lovely she is, etc. Someone asked if Stargate had changed his life or anything. No. LOL. It was a great time and all that, but not really any kind of life changing experience. Oh! He's going to be on House!! 3 episodes at the beginning of the season. He's playing a doctor, but wouldn't tell us more than that. He's hoping to be back on CSI again. And, um, some other stuff. But it was funny! Hopefully I can remember more specifics later. :-)
So, with all the plans being rearranged, everything was running late yesterday, and we ended up not getting to do the nice dinner we wanted. :-( We ended up at Steak 'n' Shake, instead. Which is always yummy.
Then we went back for the cabaret. That was Dan Shea, Carmen and Jay Acovone. They were all funny. Dan did his usual rapid-fire running all over the stage thing. He talked about how they almost blinded Jay during the pilot. Jay later expanded. Basically, it happened during the scene on Chulak when they're all running back towards the gate after escaping. And there's all those explosions going off. Jay ended up about 2 feet off his mark. Which happened to be right in front of one of the gas canons. The canons also had peat moss in them which flew in the air during the explosions and looked really awesome. Well, apparently, some of the peat flew up into his face. But the director didn't really know so he's like "Keep going! Keep going!" So Jay's running to the gate, BLIND, basically, no clue where he's going. It was funny. Sort of.
Then Carmen did his script audition thing like in Vancouver. But he had a new script! This was Sam and Daniel alone. In the gateroom. At night. Very funny. Stuff about Sam polishing Jack's gun. All that good stuff.
Then it was Jay's turn. He had no idea what to do. So Dan kind of talked him through some stuff. A couple yelled out some questions. Apparently, some years back, he got kicked out of Disneyland when the friend he was with, mimed his girlfriend giving him a BJ while on the tea cups. Oh, dear. LOL. Then he talked about his ex-wife a bit. Who is, apparently, a bit of an air head. Like, seriously. But, they're still friendly which is good to see.
And that was all. Then we came back to the room, partied and got kicked out. LOL More later!

Date: 2007-08-28 02:51 am (UTC)I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to tell you and Erin bye. I was trying to juggle changing my flight but also getting out the door in time, just in case I wasn't able to.
Which I'm sure you've read, I wasn't able to change my flight. :( But I'm giving myself a consolation prize by committing to attend next year. I've already informed honeybunny. :D
Hope you have a great week! *hugs*

Date: 2007-08-28 11:51 am (UTC)The whole flight thing is one of the reasons I'm very glad I live here and can just drive over whenever. I'm very sorry you missed Michael as he was entertaining as always. But there is next year!
