What is the Panto?

switch842So, there's all this stuff out there now about John appearing in the Hippodrome Panto of Aladdin. For all my British friends, what is this exactly? When I hear "pantomime" I think like, mime. Acting without speaking, etc. Is that what it is? Or something completely different?

Date: 2007-12-20 12:11 am (UTC)*sighs*....I used to go to one every Christmas with my mum and grandparents....they lived close to Richmond and Wimbledon Theatres and it was a family tradition....I last went to one when Jon was about 4/5 years old......
Just make sure you practice your "HE'S BEHIND YOU!"...it's compulsory for all Panto-goers!!....*snortle*.....
