switch842: (DW Donna Fangirl)

I finished Season 1 the other day and have the first disc of season 2. So far, it's not bad. There's been no fangirl squeeing moments of "OMG!! I must find all the Buffy communities on LJ that I can!!" yet. I definitely like it. It's just not at the obsessive stage yet. And some specifics:

1) Does no one know what a light switch is? Seriously, the lights are never on ANYWHERE.

2) Giles is the most adorable thing ever. He's so cute when he's all bumbling over how to ask out Miss Calendar on a date. So cute.

3) Angel is hot. But that's pretty much a given. :-)

I think that's all for now. More thoughts as they come....

ETA: And we have Spike! Yes!!! :-P

"OMG!! I must find all the Buffy communities on LJ that I can!!"

See, while I love and adore the show to pieces, I'm so far from fannish over it, it's ridiculous. Led me to lots of thinky-thoughts about what in a show entices me into the fandom.

1) Does no one know what a light switch is? Seriously, the lights are never on ANYWHERE.

Also, they'd really benefit form having freaking cell phones. Really, half the problems they have? Would've been solved by easy access to a phone.

I have a feeling this show might be like that for me. There's a lot of other shows that I absolutely adore and watch every week without fail. But I'm not "in the fandom". I think that's where this show is going...

Hmm somehow this show did not really grab me in the way that makes me go and hunt down stuff for it. I remember in its heyday one of my friends who is completely obsessed about this show would come and try and convert me. :D

I did however, loved the Musical. :D

It is kinda disappointing, because from what I'd heard of the fandom, I was expecting to be wallowing in slash and it just...wasn't. I really, really didn't get where any of the BtVS slashers were coming from.

Go forth and enjoy. I love finding new shows to love and obsess over.
Granted I was a Buffy fan all the way back when it was on (we won't even discuss my meltdown over the end of S5...all I am saying for now).
Trust me you will get to the OMG moments in S2...it's a great season and by the end it will have pretty much killed you so yeah, ENJOY!
And HELL YEAH Angel is hot...and I love Spike. :)
Please post your thoughts on S2...it's still has some of my fave eps ever. :)

Spike just like oozes sex. It's so awesome. That first ep where he shows up with Drusilla and they're all like about to and it's almost there, and then they don't. It's amazing how he can just switch it on and off like that. LOL *ahem* Anyway... Season 2 is looking like it's gonna be good.

Meh. Xena's musicals were so much better, because the actors could actually sing (I think that's where Buffy's people got the idea).

Now the troll episode! That is something to look forward too, especially if you are familiar with "ER" or "Men in Trees".

I liked Buffy and miss it, because it could be very funny....and ..uh...I have this vampire obsession.

Oh, I guess you like him. Did you know he was up for the role of the Picard clone in the last "Star Trek" movie? He would have been so much better than the guy who got the role.

So how many seasons of Buffy are there? Just so I know that it's okay to send you all five seasons of Babylon 5 (cause you already mentioned how you know I was gonna con you into watching it).

Of course this is all based on me actually getting around to burning it for you. Well the month of May does have 31 days in it. One of those days....

LOL, really? Not even Angel/Spike? Even I found them slashy, and I was totally oblivious to Jack/Daniel. *g*

There was also some pretty slashy Angel/Wes in Angel The Series.

I heart Giles! My favourite character is Cordy. I love that she has no internal editor - she just says whatever she thinks.

Trust me when I say that once you get to the middle of Season 2, you'll see what people are on about. I really takes off. I don't think I've ever seen angstier angst (not even in Meridian or Forever In A Day). The final episode of S2 killed me dead, and it was by no means the last one to have that effect. Season 3 was my favourite, though.

If you like BTVS, you should watch Angel as well. Angel was darker, edgier and more adult, though it went astray (in my opinion) partway through S3 and never really redeemed itself again. *sigh*

Other than that one line at the end of Angel? Nope, not slashy at all to me. And I really wanted to slash Spike! And Spike/Angel did nothing for me and I know a couple people into Spike/Xander and just DO NOT WANT. *shrug*

and I was totally oblivious to Jack/Daniel.

LOL, and see, I can't get that AT ALL. Abyss is like one giant J/D lovesong. *snerk*

When does Angel split off Buffy? Would it help to watch them concurrently? Or can I get through Buffy and then start in on Angel?

Yes, Spike/Xander just makes me go ew! I thought Spike and Angel were pretty slashy in Season 2. I seem to remember some flashbacks in Angel S5 that almost made it canon, kinda hinting at a Spike/Angel/Dru threesome.

I had to read a lot of Jack/Daniel slash to start seeing those two as a pairing. Of course, now, looking back it's blindingly obvious. Especially in - is it Moebius? - where they're practically skipping down a corridor holding hands? LOL!

At the risk of being spoilery, Angel S1 started at the same time as Buffy S4. I watched everything all out of order, so I was a little confused. It would be good to watch them concurrently because there are several crossover eps in Seasons 4 and 5 particularly, before BTVS moved to another network. I actually liked the early seasons of Angel better than I liked Buffy. When it was good, it was seriously good. Of course, I was shippily biased towards the main male/female partnership in that show.

Argh, no! *covers eyes* Evil wench! I've actually downloaded the first ep, but haven't had time to watch it yet. When all the American shows go on hiatus, and there's not so much pressure on my bandwith limit, I will have a go at downloading the rest.

Yes! You will succumb to the awesomeness that is the Barrowman!! Mwa-ha-ha!

Episode 1 is way awesome. If you can get through to episode 6 or 7, you're golden. Season 2 is absolutely phenomenal, though. Each episode was better than the one before. Plus it has James Marsters!!! as the oh so sexy, Captain John. And a British accent! :-D
