First off, I'm listening to Hewlett's interview from Gateworld. And he vists the forums. Now I'm worried about anything I may have said.... (and his Australian accent is sexy).

Anyway, moving on to the point of this post: the season premiere of Atlantis. I'm sort of keeping this cautiously optimistic attitude about it. Cos I don't want to not like it. I love the Stargate world and I really don't want to be disappointed. But as I think back over season 4, there's a part of me that doesn't want to remain too hopeful. And I think I've figured out what it was about season 4 that bugged. There were a lot of episodes where nothing happened. But I didn't realize it at the time because I was so caught up with the acting. Which is great. Cos I have nothing but respect for all those guys: David, Joe, Jason, etc. But I would be caught up in the episodes and be mostly loving it. Then I would come here to review or whatever and I would realize, wait a minute. Nothing happened. That was what disappointed me so much about a lot of season 4. Trio is the perfect example of that. You have three characters stuck in a box, how the hell are they gonna get out. Well, they do. But nothing happened. No one was any different from when they went in. *sigh*

Anyway, I want to like season 5. I really, really do. So I hope I do.

I didn't even know that was tonight. O_o I probably won't get to watch it until Sunday night.

LOL. I think that's kinda sad. Lack of promotion or whatever....

Wow, I think you're very optimistic and a very good fan. I haven't loved anything about SGA since Season 2 (the characterization of Caldwell in the second half) and it depresses me to know that it's up to SEASON FIVE now. I totally lost all respect for the show during Season 3, and I look back on the golden age of Season 1 as a utopia never to be experienced again.

I hope it meets your expectations. :)

Well, thanks! :-) I am trying to keep positive just cos I do love all these characters so much. But like you, every season has kinda maybe gone downhill just a little bit. Something which I attribute directly to the asshat Joe Mallozzi. I cannot stand that man. Ever since he and Paul took over, that's when the show started tanking. Which is really, really odd. Cos looking back over early seasons of SG1, they wrote some of my favorite episodes (they wrote WoO for crying out loud!!). I just don't know what happened...

I enjoyed the episode. I have some plot nitpicks which I won't mention here. There was also some fancy/atypical CGI in the opening that I want to investigate.

Oh, I'm told Hewlett visits the forum often. I'm going to start paying more attention to the lurkers.

It was OK. I'm still not completely decided.

I'm with you on that CGI stuff, though. That big shot pulling back through the entire solar system was a bit much. It was almost like they just did it to say "Look what we can do!!" When that shot started I expected the hiveship to be right outside the atmosphere. And that probably would have been more suspenseful than having it be on the other side of the system.

That's the one. I totally agree with you on that. It was too cute. It was so long, I had time to wonder where the heck this was leading. It was almost comical.
