So, the whole fandom is up in arms over what Sam said to Dean in Sex & Violence about holding him back and being a coward, blah blah blah. Here's my feelings on the subject:

There is a shred of truth in everything. The siren could not "make them" say anything. So, yes, on some level Sam believes that Dean is holding him back. Why? Probably because Dean's all "Don't use your demon powers, Sammy" and Sam's all "But it's so easy! Look! *POOF* Demon gone!". And this is a very tricky subject. Yes, Sam has been using his powers "for good." But how long until he can't any more? So, Dean's just trying to protect his baby brother like he always does.

Now, if we go back to Yellow Fever, what's the first thing Dean hallucinates? Sam going all yellow eyed and basically calling Dean out as being a "pain in his ass." And when he's doing the research? The book calls him a baby and a loser. So, seems Dean kind of thinks of himself this way, too. Why? Because Dean thinks he should have been able to resist what happened to him in hell. But he couldn't. NO ONE COULD. There's a really, really excellent meta on that whole subject that you can read here. This person details well everything I could ever want to say about the whole Dean/Hell thing in a way that makes so much sense, that there really is no other way to look at it. For me, anyway.

And continuing on, just because Sam and Dean spouted off all that crap at each other? Doesn't mean they don't still love each other. They're family. Family fights. Yeah, maybe their fights are a little more extreme, but they're not really your typical family either. Hell, they've been living in each other's pockets for the better part of four years. That much togetherness? There's gonna be some resentment/negative feelings towards each other. Because they're human. It happens.

Now, everyone just chill out. It'll all be OK.

We tlaked about this and you know my feelings on this. It all comes down to Dean wantitng to protect the most important thing in his life his baby bro and Sam has only one thing in his mind Lilith's head on a silver platter for all that she has put Dean through. Like he said in the last episode nothing is going to stand in his way of that not even Dean.

Oh, yeah. Sam wants Lilith dead. That is his mission. Whatever has to do to get that done, he'll do. No matter what Dean wants.
