Here's the song that had me all o_O the other day. It's quite something, really.

Wow, that's pretty good. And I was a huge fan of the original, which would normally make me resistant to accepting a cover. Normally covers make me cringe, though there's the odd stand-out (like Alien Ant Farm's version of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal). This one's pretty damn good. I think it's the mark of a good song when it can be covered in any genre and still sound cool.

I think it works because it is such a different genre. If someone else had tried to do it like Wham! did it, I don't think it would have worked as well.

Yes, I agree. If a boy band had done it, it would have been like a pale imitation of the original.
