I got my first totally random "Who the fuck are you?" person following me. Yeah, we'll leave that one alone for now. Took a look at his/her page and it was way too political for me. So, meh.

Then Mark Sheppard has a Twitter. He's pretty cool so I decided to follow him. He's following me back!!! I feel pressure now to be witty and amusing! I don't know if I can take it!!!

Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger!

I've been setting up "follow" on lots of people. Don't really care if they follow me back or not because I have a grand total of zero updates. The longer I go without actually "tweeting" something, the weirder I'd feel about suddenly speaking up. (Huh. Much like I am in real life social engagements.) But I do find it fun watching celebrities.

ETA: Did you see Timothy Hutton and Dean Devlin are also there? I imagine you've already gone looking for Mr. Kane?

I got Dean. Didn't know about Timothy. Haven't looked for Christian as I've not heard he's on there. On celebs, I usually wait for some outside party to confirm if someone is actually on there or not. Beth's turned out to be a faker, so, ya know.

I do find that I've been tweeting more than I thought I would. It's interesting....

I follow a total of one person on twitter. I haven't even logged in since I made the account. My step-son talked me into making one just like facebook and myyearbook and anywhere else I have accounts besides lj.

I've been follwed by a lot of "I have no idea who you ares", but I only decided to follow a few back. I don't know how they find total strangers. David Hewlett is my favorite celebity to follow because he really posts his thoughts. Lexa Doig can have a sharp edge to her which is interesting. She looked at our comments this morning and declared us as boring as she.

I understand the pressure. I'd like to get better at writting witty comments, but it's difficult to do in a vacuum.

David's definitely a funny guy. I just added Lexa and she is funny. I like her. And that creepy guy she's married to! LOL

I took a look at his profile, he follows EVERYONE back, apparently. He's actually following more people than are following him. It's very interesting...

I've suddenly got tons of random people following me on Twitter. I'm not sure why. Now that I've caught on to this, I'm not following them back unless I can see they are a fellow fan and/or I started following them first.

I've got someone on my follow list who posts constantly about sports that I know nothing about. Stuff like, "Angels suck tonight." "This team isn't doing well." "To [random] team!" Hee! And I can't be sure this isn't someone that I know from a message board or from LJ, or if they are a random person that I'm following because I hadn't figured out the random following thing yet. So many people use different names in different places, I get confused.

A few of the cool people I'm following started following me back, and I felt the same pressure at first (and still do a little), but they didn't *have* to follow me back. hehe

So far I've got just the one. But yeah, he didn't get followed back. I'll be interested to see what happens in the future as I start posting more.

oh, maybe that's why I'm getting followed by more strangers. I've been posting more. I've also discovered the search function, so, for instance, on American Idol nights, I open a page (or TweetDeck) with an #idol search in it, and I can see what anyone else on Twitter is posting if they include that tag. I also keep a search page for Drake Bell open all the time, so I can see what anyone says about him. hehe That's not a specific tag, but if anyone mentions his name, it comes up in the search.

ETA: My point was, maybe others are finding me through similar searches. heh I completely forgot what I was saying here.

LOL. So how do you do that tagging thing? Do you just add #whatever to the end of your tweet?

Yes. I don't know all the tags, but I noticed that some of my Idol friends (from the David Cook message boards and elsewhere) were using that #idol tag at the end of every post, so I started using it, too, and then I got the idea to search for that tag. Sure enough, I could see all the Idol posts that everyone on Twitter was making (provided they were public and they used the tag). I've noticed some people using additional tags, too, like #americanidol or something like that.

I have no idea how this practice came about or if it's universal and how one would know which tags to use for various topics. If you find out, let me know. :-)
