Yay!! That was really fast! :-)

It's so shiny and pretty. I shall name it Martouf. :-) All our computers are named after SG folk. Mostly Goa'uld, but I think Martouf is appropriate in this case. Now I must decide if I want to order a Stargate or other custom skin like my current laptop has. Decisions, decisions....

Anyway, I'm not touching it until hubby gets home. But hopefully we can get it set up this weekend and I can start vidding next week! Yay!!

Oooh, what'd you get?

I'm still holding off on my laptop purchase since prices supposedly go down over the summer. *crosses fingers*

A Dell Inspiron. It's basically the next generation of my current laptop. Hubby got it off their refurbished website, which apparently has crazy awesome deals if you want to check it out.

Coolness! Yeah, I've been checking the outlet site, but they never seem to have the configuration I want, boo. :-P You'll have to let me know how it goes once you've got it set up.

Yay, new woobie!

I have a confession to make... I bought myself a PC laptop yesterday, too. I got an Acer Aspire with one of the new i3 processors and 4GB of RAM. I got it to vid on, because as much as I love vidding on my iMac, I need something more portable right now, with Griffin not allowed into the computer room. And I really miss using Sony Vegas. It's just better for hobbyist vidding than the full-on pro software you need for a Mac (which does not play nice with ripped source, or like rendering to con-friendly formats). So I killed two birds with one PC :o)

I haven't named mine yet. My last PC was called Thor, LOL. My iMac is called None Maccer (which is a reference to a Spinal Tap joke). It's metallic blue, so I might call it Blue Steel *g*

Ooo! Be careful with that. My hubby had one and it kind of turned out to be a lemon. But if you're just using it for vidding and not much else, you should be OK. I think... LOL

ROFL! It's funny you should say that because the chick at the computer store said they get less Acer returns than any other make, so that's why I chose it over the Dell which was the same price. Maybe we should have a sweep to see whose machine lasts the longest ;o)

ETA: It's not my main compy, though, I'm keeping all my important stuff on the iMac which is backed up incrementally to an external drive as well. This will just hold my vids, and I'll make sure I back up the project file folders to one of my externals just in case. I'm nervous now, LOL.

LOL And everyone I tell is always like "Dell? Really?" And we've always had good luck with them. So I guess you never know....

It really is. Hubby refuses to buy Panasonic things because everything he ever got by them broke, but they're supposed to be really good.

Well, the installation process is going well. :-) Hopefully I'll be able to finish installing all my programs tomorrow and start using it! :-)
