My laptop is fucked. It's just... I don't know. BSOD every time I try to restart. Takes 20 minutes to cycle through enough times that it will actually boot. So, we're wiping everything, reformatting, all that good stuff. Fun times. Not.

And this means I will definitely NOT be submitting a vid to Creation for the SPN con. I sort of had a last minute idea I thought I could pull off. Doesn't look like it. Damn. :-P

So, I'm prob gonna be offline for a day or so. Blech.

Oh noes, the new Dell? I'd be asking them to replace it if you can't revive it. It does sound a bit virus-esque. Hopefully the restore will do the trick!

Yup. Brand new laptop. We're trying this as one last ditch effort as I've run to many scans and everything. The hardware is fine. No viruses. So, I don't know. If this doesn't work, yes, they are sending a new one.

Man, that sucks! I know I almost got a Dell and the girl in the shop said they'd had a lot of returns and recommended the Acer instead. However, I've always had good service from the Dell support on our PC's (including getting a faulty RAM module replaced) so at least you should have no issue getting it fixed or replaced. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly!

I fucking HATE the Dell support line right now. Every time I call in, they tell me to do the same thing. Yeah, I've done that, it doesn't make any difference. I have a feeling there's something like actually WRONG with the laptop. I actually have a refurbished one. Which is supposed to be as good as new, but, yeah, not in this case....

How frustrating! Did you buy it direct from Dell? If not, maybe the store can swap it out for you? With my memory issue, at least it was easy to identify the cause - the little diagnostic lights flashed the pre-determined pattern so it was just a case of reporting it and they sent a new one. But when you don't know what's causing the problem, the troubleshooting can be excruciatingly painful :o(

Yeah, it was directly from Dell. Plan right now is to wipe and reset Tuesday/Wednesday. If it's still crapping out on Wednesday, hubby is going to call Dell when he's home Thursday. I'd just like this to be over and to have a working computer.
