switch842: (SPN: Crowley Hello Darling)

Been awhile since I've blogged about Show, so I thought I'd do some catching up.

I've mentioned this in some other journals, but I am really enjoying this season. The whole mythology with The Alphas, what Crowley's trying to do, that Crowley has Sam's soul.... Ugh. Just LOVE IT!

And Sam. Oh, Soulless!Sam is just...perfection. He's amazing. There is no other character like him on TV. Sure, there are some bad guys that pretend not to care. But they do. They all have ulterior motives of some sort. Sam just honestly doesn't give a fuck. And it's glorious.

I love those moments where you can see Sam knows he should be feeling something. Sad, disappointed, whatever, but he just can't and doesn't understand. Like in Clap Your Hands when Dean was explaining that when he was missing, Sam just can't go off and have sex with random hippie chicks. And Sam did not understand that he could miss his brother, and be sad about that, but still not have sex. He just didn't get it. And Jared is playing it so well. It could very easily fall into lazy acting, but he's not. He's really giving it everything. So, yay! Jared! :-)

I also got chatting last night with [livejournal.com profile] brihana25 about Sam and what happened in hell and where his body went, etc. And I think I have a rather plausible theory on all that.

We did some quick math and going by the estimate that Sam was back on Earth only 1-2 (Earth) days after he jumped in the box with Michael, he was in hell for somewhere around 24 days. So, I'm thinking Sam was still Lucifer up until the time he got yanked back. It would have taken some time for Crowley to get there, I'm assuming as I'm sure The Box isn't an easy place to get to. So, Lucifer!Sam and Michael!Adam were probably having their epic fight, Crowley shows up, ganks Sam's soul out, stashes it somewhere safe and punts Sam's body back to earth. This is why Sam doesn't really seem to be affected by his time in hell. Cos, well, nothing happened to him.

As far as what's happening to his soul, my nothingness theory might quite possibly hold water. Because, yes, Crowley is a demon, but as Bri said, he's not stupid. He would want to have Sam's soul stashed away somewhere safe because being on the bad side of the Winchesters? Not good for a demon. So, Sam's soul would most likely be somewhere away from torture and all the bad things in hell.

So, yeah. Those are my thoughts. :-D

See, I wonder how much Crowley is bluffing about the fact that he has Sam's soul. And what the definition of "having" is. Did he take Sam's soul from Lucifer's box and put him in another box? I find that kind of hinky, considering the hoops we all went through to break Lucifer out of his box. If it's as easy as that? Then it's just cheating. Unless it's some loophole about how the box is only so very very binding for Lucifer only, and thus Sam was much easier to tug out. Or Sam's soul is indeed still in the box, and Crowley is saying that he knows where Sam's soul is and has the means to get him out, which, then again, comes the question of how he can do that when the box is supposed to be a super max prison.

I don't really think Crowley is lying about having Sam's soul. That's a pretty serious thing to lie about to the Winchesters. And, as above, pissing off the Winchesters when you're a demon = Very Bad Idea.

For me, I guess, I always imagined the prison was very specifically for Lucifer and anything else that might get in is Not Meant To Be There. So, there's the possibility that the box just spat him out into some other place in hell, now that I think about it... And if Crowley is really now the King of Hell, that's gotta give him some power or something...

I totally agree about Soulless!Sam - I've never seen another character quite like him on TV and Jared's doing an awesome job with it.

Very interesting thoughts. I like, I like. :) I was wondering how easy it was for them to get Sam's soul back - where Crowley has it stashed and whatnot - but I highly doubt he's lying to them at all about "having" it and especially about knowing where it is.

Yeah, perhaps Crowley doesn't really have Sam's soul, but he at least "has" it, if that makes any sense... LOL At the very least, he must know where it is and how to get it back.

Jared is really just blowing me away with Sam this season. He's doing an amazing job.
