Not really spoilery for anything, so I'm not cutting this. :-)

What happens to demons when they die? Cos near the end of season 4, Sam was actually KILLING them with his Hand Of Ipecac and not just exorcising them. So, where do they go? I mean, they can't really go back to hell, cos that's just going home, really. Do they just cease to exist? Where do they go??

Maybe the go to Purgatory. Maybe that's part of why Crowley was so bent on finding it.

And what if that's true and after all of Crowley's searching, Cas just gave him a one way ticket there. ;) Oh the irony.

That's what I was maybe thinking. And would be deliciously ironic if true. LOL

You know, I''ve wondered about this myself... though not specifically with demons. It's hard to believe that a creature with such power would just disappear. I've actually started a fic about it, (involving angels), but surprise surprise, it's stalled. So we'll see.

I think that's what I'm having issues with. Especially the higher level demons like Crowley and Alastair.

I have a feeling Crowley will be back. He's way too much fun. And it seems like a demon as smart as he is would have a back-up plan.

I hope so. He was one of the better villains on the show. Would be a shame to lose him so soon.

There has always been the concept of a war between angels and demons. And in war there is always death, especially when viewed by human conception. All interpretations of such war have indicated that deaths occur. But there isn't really anything to indicate what happens to an angel or a demon when it dies. I guess, theologically speaking, angels and demons do not have souls as that was a gift to humans alone. So their death is a permanent destruction of existence. (Which is the atheist point of view anyhow.)

On the other hand, Supernatural has its own mythos which is constantly adapting and growing. I think only Kripke could answer this question adequately.

I guess this makes sense. I'm wondering though if it's one of those things that will ever get answered or if we'll just be left ton wonder.....

I'm thinking Purgatory - and what kind of irony is that? *Laughs*
