Well, that didn't go well... (& WTF??)

So I attempted to color my hair again, this afternoon. The last effort seemed to be wearing off already and the gray was totally showing through. Do Not Want. So, I picked up one of those kits that color and then highlights (this one). I wanted to try and tone down the red as much as possible as it was just looking weird as it faded. This looked rather close to my natural brown hair color and then a nice highlight. The base color went fine. Then, I went to add the highlights. Unfortunately, this kit did not have the usual shower cap with holes punched in it method of highlighting. So, I had to do it free hand. Yeah, it's very chunky and also, apparently enough of the red was not gone/covered up, so my hair is now a strange orange color. Oy. Luckily, I have an appointment with my stylist on Wednesday for a cut, so I just added time for color to it. Fun.

Also, I have been having some WAY fucked up dreams the last couple days. I don't know why. I haven't eaten anything spicy or weird recently. Here's a brief rundown: Brendan Fraser, another Narnia-esque type thing, a performing arts camp, a dance recital (that may have been at the camp, but I'm not sure, Stephen Dorff & tattoos (was also one of THOSE dreams), and something with a car... So, um, yeah. What is going on with my brain??

Being an ex-hairdresser I would never attempt highlights myself at home...it's one of the most time-consuming and complicated effects to get right and I'm very suspicious of these kits that are advertised on TV...you can bet your ass that the model NO WAY did her own hair with the kit!!...*snerk*...

Also with any kind of "double coloring" you have to be so careful with the colors touching....I have 2 types of foil highlights, one bleach and one red, as well as a red base color to get my "stripes"....when washing it off the girl has to work quickly and efficiently otherwise the red touches the bleach and hey presto! PINK instead of red.....*sighs*....

I'll always get mine done at a salon as long as I stick with these type of highlights...it just isn't worth the hassle for me....

Deeds xx

OMG!! Ohhh, honey! Owwww! I hate it when that happens!

Dude....maybe you need to eat MORE spicy food before bed?

*hugs*

I'd be afraid to do at-home highlights. I have a ten minute color I do and like the way it turns out. No, it doesn't last that long before it starts to fade and the roots peek through, but I can't be a dirty dishwater blonde, now can I? :P

Hope your stylist can fix everything.

you dye your hair and your brain goes weird. Could there be a connection? Not sure, but...perhaps.
