Somehow, I never posted this here... Got put up on Tumblr and Twitter but not LJ. I've been neglecting you haven't I? ;-)

So, I've been dying my hair myself for years. Never had any problems with it. It's been great and easy and much less expensive than getting it done at a salon. However, my hair was getting a little fried from bleaching it blonde and stuff, so I decided to go dark to get some color and moisture back in it. So, why not go all the way and go black? Awesome, right? So, I get the Feria color that's black with some blue undertones to it. I think you can see where this is going:

Yup. My hair went blue. Oddly enough, it's really not that bad and everyone seemed to like it. Even my mom! :-P But still, not what I was going for, so I've been using my husband's Head & Shoulders to strip as much out as I can. It's been a week and my hair now looks like this:

It's not the best pic, but it's actually fading to a sort of grayish silver color. Which, at least it's not going green like blue tends to do when it fades. So, now I just gotta figure out how long to let this go and if I should try and fix it before the con in two weeks.

A coworker who used to be a hairdresser gave me some things to try that should be very gentle on my hair. To try and get more of the color out, a solution of equal part Johnson's Baby Shampoo and hydrogen peroxide should help. She said that swimmers use it to help get the green out of their hair from all the chlorine. Then to get some regular color back in it, boil black walnut shells in some water, let that cool down and then just let it soak into the hair. If I can find black walnut shells I might try that, but I'm not even sure where to get that stuff.

Um, so yeah. That's what's going on with my hair. :-D

I feel soooooooooooooooo much better. And my stylist is awesome. She whipped this out in 20 minutes and didn't charge me. I gave her $20 anyway, cos I couldn't not pay her for her time. But, OMG. This is seriously so much better.

If I ever start talking about growing my hair out again, y'all have express permission to virtually bitch slap me. I am not a long haired person. I need to just accept that and keep rockin' the short do. Cos this is so me. :-D
switch842: (CK: FacePalm)
Ugh. I just don't know, anymore. I'm so indecisive! LOL I kinda want to grow it out, but at the same time, I never end up really knowing what to do with it, so it just looks the same all the time. And the short is hair is just so FUN. Blagh. I don't know. Plus I just got it colored, so I don't want to just chop all that off. And every time I do this, my husband is like "Are you sure you can get through this and not just chop it off when you're half way there?" And every time I say yes, and then give up. Plus summer is coming and why so I want long hair is summer that's just going to stick to me? And... blergh. I don't know. What should I do, oh lovely flist?

I managed to find a cardigan to go with the tee that I was looking for the other day. It's from Urban Outiftters. I had gone there to try on another sweater I saw on their website, but it didn't work out. Then I saw this one! And it worked! I actually wore the tee today so I could make sure whatever I found actually worked with it. This makes me happy. :-)

Then I had a hair cut. Just a trim, really, as I'm going through the growing out stage. :-) And here is where I need your help! I like to have a goal haircut/style in mind when I do this so I don't just give up and chop it off half way through. Some pics back here for your perusal )

Got some highlights done today. My hair looks soooooooo much better. It was starting to get really drab and flat and dull. And I need to make sure it looks FABULOUS when I go to Vegas next month! Woohoo!! ;-) My salon was having a sale on color processing this week, so I decided to go get some highlights put back in. I really do look best with blonde-type hair color. :-)

Oh! And on my way down, I think I figured out my Show vs. Tell problem. I'm going to start how I've been planning to start: Action starts, jump cut to the next day and the telling. But! Instead of just telling telling, it's going to be a flashback! So, he'll start telling the story and then *Wayne's World Flashback* THE ACTION! I think it'll work out well, so I'm not repeating the action with then the telling, but it still gets done what I need to get done. So, yay! That made me happy.

I'm having issues finding a cardigan or something. I have this t-shirt that I want to wear in Vegas, at least, but it's a little, um, clingy in places. So, I need something to help kinda cover that up. It's this tee in the heather gray. My go to color would be navy blue, but I have a lot of navy blue clothes, so I'm open to suggestions. I was thinking maybe red or purple? But I haven't been able to find anything in the stores. All the spring colors are really bright and sherbet-y. Any ideas?

Mostly... LOL

We ended up just doing a single process dark-ish brown over everything to just cover it up. It worked. :-) There's still a little bit of a red tint to it because of what was underneath, but at least it's not the horrid orange shade it was a couple days ago. And it should grow out, well, too. Which is good.

I also had my first Glee related dream last night! Hehe. It was actually kind of a sweet thing. I was meeting a couple friends at a Steak 'n' Shake (don't know who they were as I didn't recognize them when they showed up. But they were a couple, so, anyway). And we were still in high school or college. Maybe early college cos we all drove to where we were. Anyway, I'm sitting there waiting and Darren Criss (Blaine) walks in. Apparently we knew each other from school. He's there by himself, so he joins us. It seems we always had this flirty thing going on, but never did anything about it. Well, through the course of the meal he gradually moves closer, puts his hand on my knee at one point and then we hold hands under the table. D'aww! Then he leans in to whisper something, which I can't hear for some reason, but it makes me kinda smile and blush a little. And then I woke up... :-( I tried to get back into it, but it wasn't working. Boo. So, yeah. That one was kinda fun and not too freaky. :-)

And y'all love ticky boxes, you get to help choose my hair!!

My preferred hairstyle is short and just out of the way. It's quick, it's easy and it looks pretty good, too. But there was a time a couple years ago when I was doing the Nutcracker that I got it grown out to that inverted chin-length bob thing. And, well, I kinda liked that, too.

But I'm not sure which actually looks best on me. So, tell me!

And what about color? I'd like to start getting back toward the blonde, I think. But sadly I don't have the money to keep doing salon color (hence my home color adventures) and I that going to be kind of hard to maintain by myself. So, what about it?

So I attempted to color my hair again, this afternoon. The last effort seemed to be wearing off already and the gray was totally showing through. Do Not Want. So, I picked up one of those kits that color and then highlights (this one). I wanted to try and tone down the red as much as possible as it was just looking weird as it faded. This looked rather close to my natural brown hair color and then a nice highlight. The base color went fine. Then, I went to add the highlights. Unfortunately, this kit did not have the usual shower cap with holes punched in it method of highlighting. So, I had to do it free hand. Yeah, it's very chunky and also, apparently enough of the red was not gone/covered up, so my hair is now a strange orange color. Oy. Luckily, I have an appointment with my stylist on Wednesday for a cut, so I just added time for color to it. Fun.

Also, I have been having some WAY fucked up dreams the last couple days. I don't know why. I haven't eaten anything spicy or weird recently. Here's a brief rundown: Brendan Fraser, another Narnia-esque type thing, a performing arts camp, a dance recital (that may have been at the camp, but I'm not sure, Stephen Dorff & tattoos (was also one of THOSE dreams), and something with a car... So, um, yeah. What is going on with my brain??

Thanks!

Thank you to whoever sent me the Holiday Cookies! They are truly scrumptious and put me in the mood to do some baking!

Sadly, I did not do any baking tonight. I did, however, color my hair. The gray situation was getting out of control and I can sadly no longer afford to get my color done at the salon. So, back to home dying it is. If anyone's interested it's this color. I had some reddish low-lights already in my hair, so I didn't want to attempt to go lighter and turn my hair orange. It looks OK, a little more red than I was expecting, but that'll probably fade as red does. But, meh. Whatever. Once this is done, I'll probably go a little more blonde as that's what I prefer.

So, yeah. That was my night. How's y'all's going? ;-)

I chopped off all my hair. :-) I just couldn't take it any more. My "long" hair was too much to deal with in the morning when trying to look after Gabe, too. My hair is just so thick it takes so long to dry. This is so much nicer and easier. I ended up just going to the local Great Clips cos I couldn't wait to get in to see my regular stylist (sorry Candace). I do have an appointment with her at the end of August (the week before the con), so this was just to tide me over until then. But, I think she did a pretty decent job.

So, anyway, I'm basically back to this:

Which I did love. And was so much fun. So, yeah. :-D
switch842: (Leverage: Eliot Fight)
OK. Getting my hair cut in a couple weeks. Gonna chop it all off since I don't have to do the period Nutcracker hair this year. Yay! But, boo. :-(

Here's the poll:

And here's the options: )

So, whaddya think?

Holy crap

I can get my hair in a pony tail!! Granted, it is a very small, very short pony tail, but still. That hasn't happened since high school. So, 10+ years (and man, is that scary to think about. This is so weird!!!
switch842: (SG: Daniel Headdesk)
Remember how I said I had that wig I was going to use for Nutcracker? Well, we have a rehearsal today so I figured I would try it out to make sure it would work before the dress rehearsal. Well, guess what? It doesn't work. If I could just wear it straight down, it would be fine. But since it needs to be in an up do, and a period one at that, it just doesn't work. Since it's a cheaper wig, the edges aren't clean and they all stick out and my hairline is fairly low, so that sticks out from under the wig. Ugh. Now I gotta figure out what I'm gonna do....
switch842: (SG: Daniel/Vala Crazy)
FANBOYS. Rock On.

Oh, and everyone loves my hair! I got the gay seal approval, so I think I'll be keeping it. I think I need a new brush, though....
switch842: (Electra: Colin Crazy)
So, I went to get my haircut today. And with the news that the wig got the OK for the Nutcracker, I was planning on it all being gone, chopped off, no more. Well, I decided to just let my hairdresser do what she wanted as long as she got rid of it.

Here's what she did: )

As you can see, she did the thing where it's super short in back and then has the long wispy pieces in front. And I just don't know. I mean, yeah, it looks nice and all, but I'm not sure it's me right now. Maybe it's just cos I was pretty sure I was coming out with some sort of nice little pixie cut. And, well, that didn't happen. I don't know. I know I can call her next week and go back in and have just chop it all off. But (and this is where I'm going to get completely superficial), there's the two cons coming up, and I want to look nice for the boys and everything. What do I do?!?!? Help me!!!!
switch842: (House: Wall)
*cough*hack*sniff*

First cold of the season is here! Yay! Not. :-P But, like Chelle said, at I'm getting it pre-con so hopefully I won't bring home any con crud next month. *fingers crossed* And speaking of, I found a buyer for my extra gold ticket. And it's a friend. Yay! No random strangers sitting next to me all weekend. :-) It'll be good times. And after seeing all the videos and posts and stories from Armageddon this past weekend, I'm like 80 million times more excited for Burbank now.

And in other good news, the wig has been approved! Woohoo! My hair is coming of on Saturday. I can't wait to get rid of this thing on top of my head. I cannot wait!
switch842: (QAF: Melanie Dancer)
So, those of you who know me in real life (I may have mentioned it here, too. Not positive), know that I've been growing my hair out for this Nutcracker thing I do. And I hate it. I don't look good with long hair. It's just a pain in my ass and yuck. For me, long hair is at my chin. I know. But that's not long! Yes, it is. When your preferred hairstyle is a slightly longer pixie? Anything past my ears is long. Anyway, I had been contemplating looking into getting a wig I was getting so fed up with my long-ass hair. But everything I could find online was, frankly, ugly and too expensive. Well, I went to lunch with a friend of mine, and she has a wig. It's just a plain long, blonde wig. So, I'm gonna get it from her and see if I can get it to do what I need it to do to become an 18th century woman's hairdo. If it works, and the director accepts it, I might be able to chop off all my hair! Yay!!!
switch842: (Brian - Kinnetik)
First, I heard "Smack My Bitch Up" on the radio today. Hehe! Those THINGERS on my flist will understand my giddiness at that. :-D

And now I'm not sure if I'll be going to NY in November, any more. Hubby is really not liking it out there. Apparently the leader of the project is a real ass, and the apartment he's sharing (a one bedroom with another guy), is crappier than the crappy apartment he had in college. But he's supposed to be moving somewhere else next week. Some things have started to get a little better. The boss guy has lessened his assholiness a bit, so that's good. Hubby is flying back home next weekend to head down to Tampa for a family wedding. If things are still really sucky at that point, he just won't be going back. If they're OK, he will. It's a lot of extra money that we could use. Plus, I have already booked my flight and the theater tickets in November. So, that would be some money wasted that we could have kept around. *shrugs* So, we'll see. (*WHINES* I wanna see Gale!!! He looks so hot with the new hair!)

Halloween is almost here! )

And speaking of hair... )

I think that's all. For now, anyway.....

Thanks for stopping by!
