1) Who is your fav bad guy of all time - the one other bad guys are measured by?
Ba'al. He wasn't the typical mustache twirling bad guy. He was kind of witty, had a sense of humor, AMAZING wardrobe. LOL But he also knew when to cut his losses. Yes, he was an evil Goa'uld bent on galactic domination, but he was smart enough to know that when something wasn't going his way, it was best to retreat, regroup and try again.
2) Who is your fav hero?
Hmm... This one's tricky, but I think I'm going to head to the literary world for this one and say Elvis Cole. He is the protagonist in a series of novels by Robert Crais (my favorite author). He's a private detective and is just awesome. He's great at his job, truly cares about the people he's trying to help, but is also very human. He's messed up on occasion and has driven the woman he loved out of his life simply by what he does. His partner is extremely loyal to him and vice versa. He's got an awesomely sarcastic sense of humor. Yeah, I just love Elvis. Y'all should check out Robert's books if you're looking for something new. They are top notch.
3) Because I am fail - what country do you hail from?
I hail from the great United States of America. Chicago area, if you want anything more specific than that.
4) How did you come across a work from home job - is it satisfying?
This one's going to be a bit long, but bear with me.
The company I'm with was my second job out of college. I've never had any idea of what I really wanted to do, so I was pretty much going on any interview I could get. And I liked this company, they liked me and it was great. I've had a couple different jobs while there as the industry changed and a couple years ago I became the one person responsible for submitting and monitoring the invoices we submitted to our clients. This was a very time sensitive job and everything had to be done at specific times each day. Around that time, I also joined a local dance troupe and started doing The Nutcracker and a couple other ballets during the year. This required me to be off quite a bit, especially some mornings for performances. To help keep things running smoothly, I was given permission and equipment to be able to work from home in the morning before going off to perform since the office is in the complete opposite direction of the theater. It worked out great, I could get my work done without having to impose on someone else and take away from the things they had to do. Win win.
Then I got pregnant. :-) As that wore on, getting up to go into the office was sometimes difficult. Especially in the winter when the roads sucked, I was just very uncomfortable driving on them. So I started working from home more often. The company I work for is really great with stuff like that. We actually have quite a few employees across the country that don't live near an office and pretty much work from home 100% of the time. Really, as long as the work gets done, they don't really care where you do it. But if I needed to go into the office for meeting or anything, I would. But most of my work is done on the computer, so there's not always an urgent need for me to be there.
During my pregnancy, my husband and I had many talks as to how we wanted to raise our child, as you do. We both agreed that we would like to avoid daycare if possible. I wanted to raise my son. So, I went on maternity leave, which was great and before going back in, I went and talked to my manager about what we would like to do upon my return. Since I'd been working from home so much before, we'd hoped it wouldn't be a problem for that to continue on a permanent basis. And it wasn't. I'm in the office two days a week, with Martouf being watched by my father-in-law one day and my parents the other day.
So, yeah. It's a pretty great set-up that I am very thankful for. :-D
5) What is your favorite way to relax?
TV. Pop in a favorite episode of one of my shows and just chill on the couch with some Dr. Pepper. :-)

Date: 2011-01-27 03:15 pm (UTC)Pardon as I put on my brag hat for a moment - He actually hung out in our hotel room at the Chi Con a couple years ago. He happened to be in the room across the hall and my friend ran into him on her way back up. Invited him over for a drink and he came over! It was pretty awesome. He just hung out, chatted about the show and whatever else. Great, great man. :-D
