I almost kind of hope that's not really the author and someone pretending to be her. Which, would still be bad enough. Cos this is just... I don't know. "Fuck off"? Really? That's what you're going to say to people reviewing your work? Um, no....
That was my first thought: oh god, I sincerely hope it's a case of identity theft because certainly no adult would so stupid and graceless, right?
If she is very smart, she will pretend that her nephew who hates her because she's a lesbian hijacked her account and posted in her name. Not that I'll exactly believe it but some people might be willing to think of her as a victim deserving of a second chance?
Well, on those blogs to leave a comment you just type in whatever name you want. So, it would be very easy for someone to do this. Because otherwise, this is very disturbing.
Yeah. She's forever on my "Don't Read" list. She really, really shot herself in the foot with this one.
And the thing is? The review isn't even THAT bad. It compliments the story, but points out that there are some minor grammar/spelling issues that some people might have trouble looking past. That's really nothing to get that upset about.
I know I'm a fairly decent writer but I never publicize anything but my HILARIOUS LJ entries (:P) because it's just too close to my heart. Should I ever write something for publication, though...I don't think I'd tell a negative reviewer to "Fuck off," public forum or not.

It wasn't even something that I would think of as a negative review, though. If I had just come across that review and the author had not replied at all, I might have thought about checking it out. The story did sound interesting enough and sometimes I can overlook the grammar issues as the reviewer pointed out.
Amazing. As a former bookseller, I have actually MET authors like this and interacted with them. It's very sad. This is not the first time I've seen something like this happen.
I will never understand that kind of attitude. Yes, you're famous and whatever. But you know what? You wouldn't be without the reviewers and the fans and all us lowly folk. So get off your high horse and show a little respect.
I don't understand why someone would do that in a public forum. *shakes head*
The last bad review (on a fanfic, not a book, lol) I got sent me into a downward spiral and I cried for two days and didn't write fic for almost 6 months, but I kept it between me and my friends and my husband. Sheesh.
*snorfle* Thanks for the giggle, I needed it! No pro-author I know of would ever go around saying "my book is great." This sad wannabe showed in her comments that she doesn't have what it takes to be a true pro.
