Need some plot help (Glee Fic)

switch842So, I'm coming up against a bit of an issue with my AU Klaine Glee fic and I'm not sure which is the best way to resolve it.
So, the basic premise is that Blaine is a rockstar (like, kind of sudden overnight success, HUGE star kind of thing), Kurt develops a massive crush, they meet, random but awesome friendship ensues and then eventually more.
Details: The AU diverges somewhere during Never Been Kissed in that Kurt never runs to "spy" on Dalton, but the story doesn't actually start until summer 2011. I am going to have Blaine be "discovered" at Sectionals, but here is where I'm running into some problems. After being discovered, he was going to head out to LA, get the first record going, etc. But, Blaine ends up coming back to Ohio A LOT in the scenes I have written, so far. It could just be that not all of the fic is written, so it's not as much as I think it is right now. But still...
So, questions: Would Blaine have to go to LA to get the music career going? Is there some way he could do all that and stay in Ohio or somewhere closer? If he does need to stay out in LA, how frequently would it be reasonable for Blaine to come back to Ohio? The whole fic is going to play out over the course of about a year and most of Blaine's family is still in Ohio (I'm thinking right now just mom has gone out to LA with him), his friends are still here. Basically, Ohio is still home. And Blaine is only 18.
So, thoughts? What do we think?

And besides, if he's a big enough star, he can set up shop wherever he wants (and would, theoretically, have the money to jet back and forth--chicago to ohio wouldn't take long at all).
