I was reading some more posts on the Glee death spoiler and there was some discussion of a likely candidate for said death - Sue's sister, Jean.

I think this makes sense and is the most likely possibility at this point.

The death is supposed to have a dramatic impact on everyone, but introducing a random parent wouldn't really matter much to us. And, at this point, they really need to do something to redeem Sue's character a bit. I mean, she's always been mean, but lately she's just been outright vicious and it's really not fun watching her anymore. I think this could be a very interesting route to go.
