Looks like I'll be going with the Droid Charge. After discussing with the husband, we decided that if I was going to go for it and get a smart phone, I might as well just get the newest and best phone available so I'm not begging for a new phone in a year or so. It's on the 4G network and looks pretty sweet. I'm excited!! :-)

Yay for super smart phone! \o/

Apps I promised:

The official Twitter app is pretty decent. There's only a couple things you can't do with it but I find myself using the app almost exclusively. It's especially handy for quickly tweeting an instant Twitpic from your phone's camera.

The official LJ app is pretty crappy. The only thing you can do with it is post an entry. You can view a list of your friends but you can't do anything with it. LJ does have a mobile version of their website, tho. It isn't nearly as robust as the full version, but better than their app. So pretty much there isn't anything for LJ right now.

There are official apps for Facebook and Tumblr, but since I don't use them I can't speak for them.

The YouTube app is okay for in a pinch but there isn't much you can do and it isn't always up to date on subscription notices. Sometimes I can't even find a video I know exists. It's hinky that way, but otherwise a nice add-on.

The IMDb app is a plus. So is Wikidroid for access to Wikipedia. Evernote, if you use that, is handy.

Games, though! Angry Birds is a must. Along those lines, also get Stupid Zombies. Abduction makes me laugh because you play a cow trying to jump up to higher platforms to save your cow friends from the aliens. For thinky things, Alchemy has you combine elements to create new things, creatures, and people. WordUp is addictive as a sort of Boggle-type word game. Unblock Me is a problem solving game where you have to move blocks out of the way to get the colored block out. Jewels is a Bejeweled knock-off, but an excellent time waster. And there's even a Sudoku.

Also, just for kicks, there is a Star Trek Tricorder. It does nothing more than make your phone look like a tricorder, complete with sounds!

Every app I listed, and every app I've ever gotten, is free. I got rid of the Last.fm app because they changed it so you have to be a paying subscriber to use the app. If I listen to music through my phone, I use the Amazon Cloud.

Oh, Google Earth and Google Sky are also fun apps. They are a bit resource intensive, though, so they might lock up from time to time. And then there are various news feed apps. Choose your favorite and they're bound to have one. News and Weather by Google is pretty nice as it keeps you up to date with local weather and provides a feed of top headlines from many different sources.

One more thing, there are no official rules/definitions for 4G as of yet, so it's pretty much 3G although extra benefits vary from carrier.
