WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS FUCKING HAPPEN TO ME?!?!?!?!?

So, remember the epic squee that happened when it was announced that Darren was going to be performing at the Northalstead Market Days on August 13th? And it's free? It's a Darren Criss show and it's free?

I NOW PROBABLY CAN'T FUCKING GO!!!!!!!!!!!

We've had a family vacation to South Carolina planned since last Christmas for the week following. We were going to be driving there from here cos, well, it's stupidly expensive to fly right now. And it's a two day drive. Guess what? WE HAVE TO LEAVE AT THE ASS-CRACK OF DAWN ON AUGUST 13TH!!

I though we were leaving Sunday. So, plans were starting to be made and possibly people coming in from out of town. And I don't know....

I'm trying to find flights (one-way), but there are NO DIRECT FLIGHTS from Chicago to Savannah. How is that possible?? The cheapest flight involves layovers/transfer in St. Louis AND Dallas. WTF?? Well, there's one direct flight, but it's like $950.

Can you like, book a round-trip flight but just never check in for the return?

This sucks.

ETA: Found a fairly cheap flight into Charleston. Now I just need to convince my husband to let me do this....

As someone who travels a lot I can tell you that you can book a round trip and not check in for the return flight for sure. It's yours and if you paid for them already, they don't really care and if there are people waiting for the flight they might resell it if you don't shop up at the lasy minute. Honestlyround trip as are usually cheaper so if you can find one, then hooray. I hope this makes sense. Fingers crossed you get to see Darren!!

Yes, thank you. I think I found a fairly cheap one-way ($170), so we'll just have to see what hubby says.

BTW - Did you ever find whatever Darren pics you were looking for?

I don't know about not checking in for your return flight. I don't think there are direct flights to Savannah from anywhere, it's a really small airport. I know because my best friend lives there and we checked into it when I went to visit him a few years ago.

Well, if I do go, I then have to buy a plane ticket, so technically the concert would then not be free.... Ugh. It's such a mess.
