Hubby and I went to see Drive yesterday. It's a very interesting movie. Not really at all what I was expecting from the previews. It's very, very dark. It's also very quiet. There's not really a whole lot of dialogue. Which can work, and I think it did. I haven't yet figured out if I actually liked it or not. It's weird.

There are 2 things though, that I absolutely HATED about the movie: the credits and the music.

The credits were done in this bright fuchsia color, in a really crappy font (95% sure it was Mistral, if you're interested). I'm sorry, but that's just a bad font.

Then the music was this really weird electronic 80s stuff. And I mean the actual songs that were used, not just the backing underscore.

It was almost like they were trying to make it an 80s movie, but it wasn't. I know, it's weird, but it really bothered me.

So, yeah. It's interesting, if not particularly moving in any way. 4/10

I haven't been to see a movie since Fright Night and I'm itching to go. This one piqued my interest more than anything else out there and I've been hearing surprised reviews about it. It seems it will be an underdog type of movie worth watching. Even David Hewlett said he was impressed by it.

And I like 80s electric music, but I fear you probably don't mean what I think you mean.

I think my problem was that I just had such a clear idea of what it was going to be from the previews, and while some of that did happen, there was a WHOLE HELL of a lot more going and it just kind of seemed to come out of nowhere, even if it didn't. Does that make any sense? LOL

I might be able to look back on it in a couple days and figure out how I feel about it. But right now, I'm kind of stuck on "Huh."
