I need to stop reading TLo's Glee reviews

I went over there this afternoon ready to squee and be all \o/ with them. First words of the review, "That was awful."

AGREED. I've seen in a few places that people thought it was awful (even on Tumblr), and I'm at a loss as to why. It was amazing.

I don't know if it's that people didn't get the jokes (the things I saw rage about last night, Santa Baby/The BOX aside, made me scratch my head). It's like they don't know how to recognize satire, and how everything was done the way it was done on purpose. I may not have seen the 50's/60's sitcoms they were mocking, but I know about them. I thought it all worked. Guess I'm just easy to please, lol.

TLo seem to have been confused about whether Glee was being serious or not. It's GLEE. Go with NOT SERIOUS.

They've really gotten down on Glee recently. Even last weeks episode they were all "Meh" about it. :-P

I started reading their recaps at 'Never Been Kissed', which made me cry, but it's gone drastically downhill from there, and I couldn't even finish this week's review, so I'm done trying with them for good, now.

Glee has a bit of an issue with bouncing wildly back and forth between absurdist comedy and Taking Itself Seriously, so fandom seems to have NO IDEA how to react to it when it has a mood swing, sometimes. I thought it fairly obvious that last night's was pretty heavily on the 'comedy' end of the spectrum, so I enjoyed the hell out of it, and never felt the need to overanalyze or get offended over every little thing they got 'wrong'. I concentrated on reveling in the sheer cracky joy, *lol*

Yeah, Never Been Kissed was pretty much the high point with their reviews.

Did everyone just completely miss that this wasn't just a parody, it was a fucking SATIRE of all those specials and how ridiculous they were? With all the wink, wink, nudge, nudge between the two "roommates" and all? This was not meant to be taken seriously in any way.

I just love how everyone in New Directions ships Klaine.

Rachel's reaction to not being invited to Kurt and Blaine's for Christmas was awesome. Cos I would totally feel like that, too! LOL

Yeah. They just don't get it anymore. Even when Glee is addressing serious issues, you still can't take it seriously.
