It's mostly related to writing, but also to editing. I think the issue is that the scripts are too ambitious and they need A LOT more editing before they get to production. Because the episodes are too long, so they keep having to cut scenes and bits of scenes and whittle it all down to 42 minutes and they're left with stuff that barely makes any sense.

OK, so slightly drunk post-ep, this might be kind of weird.

Wanna Be Startin' Something is really fucking hot. Blaine sounds amazing and looks amazing and Kurt's ass does look fantastic in that leather jumpsuit.

Bad was actually a little ridiculous. I was giggling through a good portion of it. Oops?

OK, and can I just say how absolutely RIDICULOUS it is that the Warblers' awesome number gets cut, but we still get the 216546126354 scene of Finn and Rachel confessing their undying love for each other. WE GET IT. Can some of the other couples please have the spotlight for a little bit? Ugh. Seriously. I don't shipbash (to each their own and all that), but I'm getting really fucking sick of all the damn Finchel they're shoving down our throats. Blech.

On the Finchel note, now that Rachel is a NYADA finalist, I hope she takes back the proposal and crushes Finn like a little ant.

SCREAM WAS AMAZING. It was everything I wanted that number to be. I was praying for a dream sequence so Kevin could dance and he did and HOLY SHIT HARRY SHUM IN EYE LINER!!!!!!!!!! szlkjdhgsdlkjfglhsdkfjg;sdkfjg

Sebastian just needs to fuck off now. He's just a dick. That's all. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. The Warblers need to kick him out NOW. He is NOT a Warbler.

The other problem—and this speaks to the not-entirely-consistent characterization and continuity—is that they try to shoe horn in specific songs that might somewhat fit the situation to literally fit the situation. Scream is actually a good example of that in this episode because it felt so weird to have Artie be the one that was that mad. Not that I think Kurt's voice would have fit the song well, but shouldn't he be the one singing about screaming? It's like they thought of Kevin and Harry dancing and knew they could sing the song and got lost in that idea instead of how the song would service the plot.

Basically Glee is more about the music than it is about being a tv show. (Which I don't really mind because I accept Glee for what it is.)

It was, which is why I enjoyed it so much. (I mean the original music video is a little ridiculous as is the whole idea of dance fighting, sooooo....)

That was my one real beef with this episode. The Warblers practically worshipped Blaine and we saw a few weeks ago that there were no hard feelings with him leaving. And last year they loved Kurt, too! How on EARTH did Sebastian convince them in a few weeks that it would be okay to slushie Kurt??? They were all in on it and Blaine just got in the way, but THEY USED TO LIKE KURT TOO!!!

I think I might have bought it had there been more slushies and the only slushie that was doctored was the one Sebastian had specifically for Kurt.

But yeah, that bugged me the way Sebastian seems to have corrupted the Warblers.

Basically Glee is more about the music than it is about being a tv show.

Yes. Which is sad because most of season 1 and even early season 3 seemed to really find a good balance of the two and the music was really there to support the story, not tell it. I just wonder if perhaps Ryan Murphy is too tied up with American Horror Story and isn't able to give Glee the attention he seems to need to give it.

As much as I loved the Scream number, it was a little odd having Artie do that. I mean, we haven't really seen much of him being bullied since season 1.

The Warblers just really disappointed me last night. Mostly, I think, because they could have only found out about the slushie thing from Kurt and, while Kurt may have tried to lessen it, knowing that it was something that happened WEEKLY to him? And that's what they do? Ugh. I wonder what kind of blackmail Sebastian has on all of them, cos that's the only thing I can think of.

I loved Scream, Wantin' be Startin' Something and Black or White.

Loved the hurt/comfort Kurt/Blaine scenes, but one of the best was when Burt came to school to give Kurt the letter. How amazing is Burt? The scenes between them are gold. The show gets it right all the time with them.

Burt is the most amazing father ever. I loved how he wanted to tell Blaine that Kurt was a finalist. Every time I see Mike O'Malley's name in the opening credits I get excited cos YAY BURT!!
