Glee - On My Way

First, let's get the songs out of the way. Cough Syrup was the only good song in that episode. Everything else was awful. I'm sorry. It was. Especially The Warblers. If we see more of the Warblers performing, please get the Bubs back. Or another choir. Whatever they're doing now is not working. Cos that was shit. Honestly, I wanted the madrigal singers to win. LOL

Now, the big issue. I'd heard rumblings this was coming, but those have been around since the season started so I was just going in with a wait and see attitude. And I kind of can't believe they actually went there. I'm sort of two minds about it: the general storyline and execution of that scene was phenomenal. Max Adler for all the awards, for sure. And having it all transposed with that song was perfect. On a sort of more specific note, we just haven't seen enough of Dave for the fact that it was him to really have the impact I think they wanted. For me. Yes, I was crying and bawling and was very moved, but this could very well have been the first episode Max was ever in and I would have felt the same because he acted it so well. Am I making any sense?

So, Regionals was a wash. Whatever. ND had to win. Blah blah blah. They should have stuck Michael.

The wedding. I was really hoping for the wedding to be stopped. Did not expect it to be stopped in that manner. Though as soon as they showed Quinn in the car with her phone, I knew what was coming. Just, of all the characters, it had to be Quinn? Really? I mean, she was actually finally getting back to being someone I liked and being on a track to getting her life back together and being happy and all that jazz and I guess the writers just couldn't let that happen. God forbid someone else get some drama. Not like Quinn hasn't had any of that. I don't know. It just sort of left me with a, "Really? REALLY?" feeling. (Where's a gif of Hardison going "Seriously?" when I need it?) I actually turned to my husband and said, "I hate this show." But, you know hate as in obsessed with and HOW CAN THEY DO THIS TO ME?!?!

So, I wonder when Glee comes back if it's going to pick up right after this or if there will be a corresponding seven week(?) time jump? Or whatever ridiculous amount of time the show is on hiatus. Anyway.....

I wasn't bawling during the Karofsky scenes, but other than that, you summed up my feelings on the episode nicely.

I was thinking about it some more today as I was discussing it with a friend and I think there was just TOO MUCH going on. Teen suicide is a very sensitive and hot topic right now and to cram it into an episode with Regionals and Finchel's stupid wedding and Sebastian and all that other crap it just kind of made everything really muddy. Honestly, this should have been 2 episodes for all that happened in it.

I feel bad for Kurofsky, but it also shows that bullies can dish it out, but they can't take it. You're right, he's too minor of a character for it to have had that big of an emotional punch. However, I loved the hospital scene between Kurt and Dave. Chris and Max were great in that.

Yeah, it's just sitting weird with me. I don't know. Glee has become.... not what I thought it was going to be after seeing the pilot.
