People watching at cons is the best thing ever

Seriously. It's AMAZING. I love it. I mean, this weekend there were so many girls in the short, tight cocktail dresses with five inch heels and the hair and make-up all done. It's so weird. Cos, like, 90% of the time you'll be sitting on a somewhat uncomfortable chair in a conference room, 6% of the time you will be walking around somewhere to get food or another room in the hotel, 3.99% of the time you will be standing in line, and 0.01% of your time will be spend in the actual personal presence of the celebrity. And that's only if you get a photo op or the super special pass with the extra dessert party and stuff. I just... I don't get it. And the conference room is FREEZING. These girls are crazy.

And then there's always the people wearing clothes they shouldn't be. I remember on Saturday, there was this one girl sitting several rows up from us and every time she stood up (which was quite often for some reason), 2 inches of her asscrack were showing. GET A DAMN BELT! NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT!

But, anyway. Con was decent enough. Most of the guests were entertaining. Especially those that were not sober. The girls' panel was a little meh. But otherwise, it was good times hanging with my girls. :-)

Oh yes. That is why I save my dress for ONE day of the con (whichever day I'm doing photos generally, because if I'm paying that much for a photo I want to look nice dammit).

Last year at the Chicago SG con I totally saw a woman in the photo op line rocking an awesome pair of hooker heels (those crazy clear plastic ones that are ridiculous looking unless you're 6, or a hooker.)

I totally get wanting to look nice for the photo op, cos, God knows I do. But the extent to which some of these girls go is just CRAZY. And 98% of the time, the guys are just in jeans and a flannel or something, anyway. The cocktail dress is not really called for.

Unless it's the Michael Shanks formal photo op. ;-)

I totally get wanting to look nice for the photo op, cos, God knows I do.

I have the photos from a couple of cons where I *didn't* dress "nicely" (in an appropriate con dress, with not too much of anything showing) and those are all the pictures I hate with a passion (except that one from Stargate ChiCon last year with Ben and Chris that I look like I'm stoned. I *hate* that despite the con dress)

But the extent to which some of these girls go is just CRAZY.

You have to remember that they haven't done this as much as some of us ;) ;)

Even then they could probably get away with just the regular old little black (or red) dress...

For me, at these things, "dressing up" is my nice jeans and a button down shirt or sweater. LOL

When I went to the Vancouver Con, we did dress up for the dessert party. But I wasn't walking around all day in my dress and heels.
