Well, that was a disappointing evening
Jul. 15th, 2012 09:22 amHubby and I had a date night last night - dinner and a movie. It pretty much sucked on all levels.
Hubby was lovely, don’t get me wrong. Dinner and movie were not.
Here’s the breakdown:
Dinner: We went to this restaurant that’s on the outlot of the movie theater. We had gone there once before and I had some issues with the food that I ordered, but my husband enjoyed his meal, so we figured we’d go back and I’d just get something else. I will freely admit that I am a picky eater, but it actually takes a lot for me to send something back when I’m in a restaurant. Since I am so picky, I am very careful about what I order and ask questions or for minor modications if I need to (usually leaving things off a sandwich or burger). Tonight, I’m looking over the menu and trying to decide between a brick oven pizza or the mushroom risotto with chicken. I decide to go with the risotto. On the menu, the dish is only described as having parmesean and wild mushrooms. No other ingredients are mentioned. When the plate comes out, it’s also got tomatoes and onions. Two foods I hate the most. I mention this to the waitress, but as it’s not an allergy issue, just a food preference one, I decide to give it a couple bites to see if I can eat around it. Nope. It just tastes like onions. So, back it goes and I get a cheeseburger.
I just… I don’t understand what happened. Tomatoes and onions are probably two of the pickiest/largest allergens out there. How would you not list that on the menu? It’s not like tomatoes and onions are standard things to be included in a risotto dish. So, we won’t be going back there.
Movie: We saw Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I’m not sure how they came up with the script, but it held little resemblence to the book. The book was awesome and amazing and y’all should read it. The movie was awful. If I was the author, I would be upset. On the upside, the Milk Duds from the snack bar were actually nice and fresh and chewy and not hard as rocks. :-)
So, yeah. Blech. :-P

Date: 2012-07-16 04:12 am (UTC)I enjoyed the movie, but I haven't read the book. Now I'm not sure if I want to. I only went to the movie because my brother wanted to see it and didn't have anyone else to take him.
