Here it is. My Gale/Randy RPS story. I'll be joining everyone else in hell shortly.

Title: All That Matters
Rating: PG for language and kissing
Pairing: Gale Harold/Randy Harrison
Warnings: This is real person slash. Turn away now if this offends you in anyway.
Word Count: 1342
A/N: I really hate my muse when she makes me do things like this. But, here it is anyway. Hope you enjoy it. Oh, it's really angsty and sappy and totally unrealistic.
Disclaimer: I know nothing. This is just for fun. Please don't kill me.

This was it. He finally had to go. They’d been sitting in Randy’s apartment all night. Gale had meant to leave hours earlier; he had a plane to catch. But whenever he tried to go, he couldn’t get himself up off the couch. It was finally too late to stay any longer. His plane was leaving in two hours and he still had to make it across town to the airport. He finally stood up, looking at Randy for what could be the last time. He could see the blonde’s eyes getting watery and pulled him into one final embrace. They said they’d keep in touch, but you know how these things go. They’ll phone and e-mail for the first few months and then one of them will get busy and the communication would trail off until it ended all together. He heard Randy sniffle against his chest and squeezed tighter.

“I love you, Gale,” Randy whispered.

“Love you, too, Rands,” Gale replied.

“Make love to me.”

“I can’t, Randy. You know it wouldn’t be fair. To us or them,” he answered leaving their names unspoken.

“Then kiss me, please. Just once, for us.”

Gale pulled back and gently brushed the tears off Randy’s cheeks. He leaned in slowly and kissed Randy for the first and last time as Gale. It felt strange and familiar all at once. They had kissed hundreds, probably thousands of times as Brian and Justin. Sure, they’d had the occasional friendly peck in passing, but those were always platonic, ‘this is how I would kiss my mother’ kind of kisses. This time was different. This time there were tongues and teeth with a heat and desperation they had never really felt. They knew this would be the only time this could be allowed to happen and they took full advantage of it.

Eventually, Gale had to pull away due to lack of oxygen. He kept his eyes closed as he turned towards the door, not wanting to see the tears he knew Randy was crying. If he did, he knew there would be no way he could leave. But he had to. He had a plane to catch back to LA and Kim. And tomorrow, Randy would be leaving for New York and Simon. It was better this way for everyone.

Eight months had passed since Gale walked out of Randy’s apartment that morning. Each had been doing well professionally. And personally, things were as well as they could be when you were involved with someone while a piece of your heart was with someone else 3000 miles away.

Gale and Randy had kept up their vow to still remain friends. They exchanged e-mails and the occasional phone call when something truly exciting had happened to one of them. But eventually, as always happens, work and other friends managed to intrude and the communication lessened until monthly e-mails were the only thing keeping them together.

Randy had almost all but given up on the friendship. Not that he blamed Gale at all. He was just as guilty with his lack of calls and e-mails. So you can imagine his surprise when he opened the door to his and Simon’s apartment to insistent pounding one night at two a.m. and found Gale standing there, staring at him with those big, hazel eyes looking like he was about to ask Randy what the meaning of life was and if Randy said he didn’t know then life was over as Gale knew it.

“Gale? What are you doing here?” he asked.

“Do you still love me?” Gale replied.

“What?” Randy inquired, perplexed by Gale’s question.

“Do you still love me?” Gale said more insistently.

“Yes, of course, Gale. I still love you. I never stopped.”

“Will you marry me?”

Randy stared at him, trying to absorb what Gale had said. Did he really just ask him to get married? Since when did Gale want to marry Randy? What happened to Kim?

“I think you better come inside,” Randy replied, not wanting to have this conversation in the middle of the hall.

He kept a hand on Gale’s arm as he led him to the living room. Gale looked frighteningly pale for someone that Randy had always considered a bronze god. Randy went to get him some water, afraid that Gale might pass out at any moment.

“Here, drink this. Now why don’t you tell me what this is all about?”

Gale took a deep breath and began the story that had led him to tonight’s activities.

“I was going to ask Kim to marry me,” he began, “bought the ring and everything. That was almost a month ago. I wasn’t sure why I kept putting it off. I mean, I love her. So, that should mean that I want to spend the rest of my life with her, right? But I kept coming back to one thing: if I did this, I wanted it to be forever. And that’s what I couldn’t see. Because even as happy as we were and as much as I loved her, there’s only one person that I wanted to spend forever with – and that’s you,” he finished, finally looking over at Randy who was looking at him with those big blue eyes. “These last eight months have meant nothing to me, because you weren’t there with me to share in everything. I love you so much Randy. I just didn’t know until you weren’t there. I got so used to having you around that it was impossible to do anything without you.”

Randy had sat shell shocked throughout Gale’s entire speech. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He had waited so long to hear Gale say that he loved him like that. He wanted to jump in Gale’s arms and never let go, but he was so stunned he couldn’t move, let alone speak.

“Randy?” Gale asked becoming concerned at his silence.

“I…I just…What?”

“I love you, Randy Harrison. Will you marry me?”

It finally sank in that Gale was serious. Honest to God serious. This was more than he had hoped would ever happen. As pathetic as it was, he used to dream about this back when they were still filming. They were together all the time and knew each other better than they knew themselves sometimes. But Gale had always been reluctant to enter into any kind of relationship while they were still working together. And eventually, they had found others to share their lives. Or so Randy had thought. Could they do this? Could they really get married?

“Yes,” Randy replied. “Yes, I’ll marry you, Gale!”

He launched himself at Gale, knocking the man backwards into the sofa cushions, fusing their mouths together in a passionate kiss. He pushed his hands into Gale’s hair, pulling roughly at the strands. Gale moaned in response and thrust his hips up into Randy.

“What the fuck is going on?”

Randy looked up to see Simon standing over them. Fuck. He had forgotten Simon was even home as soon as he had seen Gale at his door.

“Um,” Randy began.

“Oh, don’t even try to tell me this isn’t what I think it is,” Simon interrupted. “I wondered when this day would come. And spare me the sympathies, Randy. Go, be with Gale. I’m very happy for you,” Simon said dryly.

“Simon, wait,” Randy said trying to get up off the couch. But Gale held him where he was, knowing any attempt to set things right was futile. Randy would have to agree with him. For as much as he loved Simon, he couldn’t love him the way he loved Gale, not with the all-consuming, soul-burning desire he felt whenever they were together.

“It’s OK,” Gale said. “We’re together now. That’s all that matters.”

“You’re right,” Randy agreed kissing Gale again. “Of course this means you’ll be taking my name.”

Gale just laughed and swatted Randy on the butt. This was where he was meant to be. He was sure of it.

THE END
