I had the hair and make-up trial yesterday. LOVED how the make-up turned out. But the hair, not so much. Here is what the inspiration pic is:

And it sooooooo did not turn out anything like that. I guess she had an issue with me wanting to have my veil on top of my head. We had to go through about 3 different tries and nothing really worked.

The first attempt was looking good. She teased the back at the crown a bit to give it some height, and that was fine. Then when she went to put the viel in, she put it in right below where that "tease" part was and that pushed it up and made some weird bump on top of my head. Then we tried some other things to make it work, and nothing worked. It was just awful. I actually started crying in the car on the way home frommy shower cos I realized I hated it so much. And I don't even have any pictures to show you cos I had to get in the shower as soon as I got home to get the rat's nest out of my head. I just don't get why people can't style short hair. I don't want nor do I need some big fancy updo with curls spilling off the top of my head. There is a reason my hair is so short. It's almost like they have to make it more complicated than is necessary to justify charging $85 to pull half my hair back and tuck the ends under with some bobby pins. I almost want to just play with my hair myself this week and just do it the day of so I don't have to worry about.

However, whilst in the shower, I think I realized what wasn't jiving with me. 1) Where the teased hair was is where the veil needs to go. So, we need to get rid of that. And 2) she was trying to pull back too much hair.

So, I think at this point I have 3 options that I can think of:
1) Don't worry about it for now, just go back the day of with these very specific requirements and hope for the best.
2) Call for another trial being very very specific about what I want.
3) Say fuck it, and do my hair myself.

So, HELP! What should I do???

The image you linked to isn't working properly, so I'm not sure what you are going for. But it definately sounds like she's trying to make things difficult.

When I had my hair done with my veil, the hairstylist actually put the veil on first, got an idea of how it would sit, where, etc. THEN took it off and went from there. Did this girl try that? Maybe that would help if she didn't.

If not... depending on they style, if you think you can swing it, or a friend could do it for you, I'd go that route. That's just one more hassle you don't need.

Oops. I was stuck in [img] tag mode. :-D

Another thing some people have suggested is calling for another trial but requesting a stylist that has short hair, since they'll know how to handle it better. So I think I'm gonna try that. Give it one more chance and see what happens....

1. I wouldnt' risk it.

2. How many trials do you get for what you've already paid for? If you get some more, I'd go back. If not, then I'd...

3. Try it yourself/ with a friend a few times, and if you can't get it, go back to the stylist (or a different one) and see if they can do it the way you like.

Good luck!

2. You have to pay for each trial. Which kinda sucks, but it's the Mario Tricoci hair salons, if you know them. I have to go to a 1st communion party today for my flower girl, actually. So I might do a half-assed attempt when I do my hair in a littel bit and see what that does....
