As soon as I get my check from them, I am closing the account and never using them again. WHY WHY WHY do they need my credit card information to verify my address? My address is my address. What it I didn't have a credit card? Would I just be shit out of luck and never get my money from them? Cos it'll be a cold day in hell before I give them access to direct deposit to my bank account. fsdlkrtjgwtuj

They've been bugging me to update since my debit card expired in September. Can you say "cold day in hell?" I've used them a couple of times, but definitely not enough to warrant the hassle/worry of letting them have my bank acct #.

I guess what I don't get is why they need to verify my address when I'm asking them to send me money. There should be a space for the address you want the check sent to. Period. If I fill in the wrong address, then I'm an idiot and I don't deserve to get my money. It's just so stupid.

If you are Serious, not joking, then you/everyone needs to do some homework:

NOTHING on the Internet is as vile, evil as Pay-thug-Pal. Once money in an account:
they WILL "freeze" the funds --AKA: take the money and roll it into interest-bearing account --for themselves, using FALSE excuses. IF IF IF they let go of YOUR money: it will be 180 days later.

PayPal-eBay thugs: NOT insured, NOT covered by FDIC, customer gets ZERO protection; ZERO help from agencies. Ergo: money IN, nothing comes OUT. MILLIONS of people have lost their money/had their business destroyed because of NOT-your-pal Thieves. 'Asking' for your address: just a ruse/time-staller. Next: they will demand FAX of whatever, those get "lost" etc., etc., etc.

Google for yourself. Their TOS: NOT an enforceable contract --not signed by you. One man sued them for TOS contract when PayThugs kept his $115. and got Arbitration clause quashed. Result: PayThugs paid $9+ million fine, walked away and continue to steal --EVERY hour. Some estimates: they "earned" $100 million last year.

There are a few ways to get your money back, do your homework. NOBODY should give money to PayThugs --it WILL turn into a 'donation.'

Are you sure it was PayPal and not a phishing scam? Some of the scam emails look really official. I'm actually halfway impressed with the effort they go through. :D

Yes, this was on the site when I was trying to get them to cut me a check. So, no it wasn't an e-mail thingy. It's just annoying.

There's actually a good reason behind the address validation stuff, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. My dad's ebay obsession has led him to think everyone finds the nuances of paypal rules interesting and he explained it all to me a while ago.

If you can remember, I'd like to know. Cos I just don't get it.

Have you called them directly?

You can verify your address that way and make sure they'll send your money to you.

I thought about that, but knew it would just be quicker to do the credit card thing and then I'll close the account when I get my money.

PayPal is a pain with a lot of the confirming shit! I have two separate checking accounts. One for my personal stuff and one which I only keep $20 in for the PayPal/eBay stuff.
