Went to a follow up with the doctor today. There's no pneumonia or anything like that. He just thinks the antibiotics from the first time didn't work so well. He's said they'd seen the Z-Pac starting to not be as effective. So, now I'm on an amoxicillan based antibiotic - augmentin. Speaking of drugs, for the few nurse friends I have (Cindy), what are your feelings on antibiotics and alcohol? Cos this a ten day treatment and Vancouver is in a week! I'd like to be able to have a drink or two without too much worry...

Moving on...

MEIMEI! I did a double take when I was at Walgreens getting my drugs. I thought I saw the cover of your book on sale! But it wasn't. It was some other purple-ish toned, half naked man cover. It was kind of freaky...

Oh! I got new hair!! I look so fabulous, I can't stand it! I'm gonna look smokin' in Vancouver! There's a (not quite so good) pic behind the cut if you want to see.

I just finished a lovely corned beef on rye sandwich for dinner. Hubby had to go into work so it's just me.

Picked up a couple pairs of cute sandals at Payless and a cute top and some bermuda shorts at J Crew.

Hmm, I think that's all. Leave for Vancouver on Thursday!! Yay!!!!!!!!! :-D

I am really not sure about the efects of ETOH when combined with Augmentin. It is my practice to let patients know that Augmentin has some icky side effects such as nausea and bowel cramping and occasional toots and diarrhea. that is an effective amount of information so that most would never dream of ingesting ETOH. that being said...you are free to experiment. I do know that any antibiotics ingested while taking oral birth control negates that form and pregnancy can ocurr. I know that is not what you asked...but i feel that that is an important fact also overlooked by many women. I think the real effect would be on the liver...it has to process the by products of the antibiotics and bacteria...to add ETOH in the mix is asking quite alot of your liver.

that medical info aside..I am sure you will consider all your options...and still have a reasonably good time at the con. Me? I am on some new antidepressants making ETOH a complete and utter NO-NO. unless I stop taking them say today in preparation for the con..... but I told myself only one alcoholic drink each nite if absolutely medically necessary!

ps...I hope you didnt find my tone offensive. **turns off nurse mode for con**

Thank you, Nurse Cindy. :-) Any info is appreciated. So, far I seem to be doing fine without much of any side effects. Hopefully it stays that way.... :-D
