switch842: (Glee: Blaine B&W Microphone)
Saw Pitch Perfect this afternoon. I enjoyed it a great deal. Went and downloaded the soundtrack when I got home. It's fairly predictable in the standard Hollywood-fair way, but I still liked it. Rebel Wilson is HILARIOUS. Skylar Astin reminds me of a Zachary Levi in some ways. Which is good. I like Zachary. 4/5

My little car passed 75,000 miles today. With any luck, I will have a new car by the end of the month. *fingers crossed*

ETA: And I saw the Google Maps car today!! Drove by it and everything. So, in a couple months, my car could be on Google Maps! Hehe.
switch842: (Glee: Darren Oops)
Seriously, I go away for the weekend and the internet explodes with Darren awesomeness. (Seriously, Darren. You can stop it with the being awesome and cute anytime now. Thanks.) Even with my swanky new phone, I was still pretty much unconnected cos you can barely get 3G out there, so forget 4G. Ugh. Being addicted to the internet sucks sometimes. :-P

And the weekend ended up being kind of a bust anyway cos of the weather.

Here's the dealio: June is a very busy month in the Switch household. My dad's birthday is the 4th. My mom AND father-in-law's are the 11th, which is also my wedding anniversary (5 years!!). My birthday is the 23rd and Father's Day is whatever Sunday it is. So, the last couple years we've just been picking one day in the middle of the month and doing one big celebration for everything. This year, we decided to invite everyone out to the summer house for a little mini-break and some fun on the lake. Well, Mother Nature decided to step-in and stick her tongue out at us and make it rainy and cold all weekend. Yuck.

One nice thing that we did manage to pull off was having my brother drive-in from Ohio Friday night. He'd just moved up there to start a new job so it was kind of like if nothing comes up he can probably make it. But he's also never driven there so, and it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, so *fingers crossed*. But he made it! Yay! So, we ended up just hanging around the house and playing games and stuff. It was OK, but maybe not as fun as it could have been. Had yummy steak dinner Saturday night for the official celebration night.

So, yeah. And, ugh, I'm having issues with [livejournal.com profile] spn_epicontest. I'm losing entrants like mad. The first couple weeks after I took over, it was still pretty steady with the usual 20-25 entries each week. But now it's down to 10-15 if I'm lucky. Is it just that it's summer and everyone is out doing other stuff now? I'm altering the schedule slightly to help me and I wonder if maybe it'll help the other folks, too. But, ugh. I don't know. It's getting frustrating. I'm contemplating a pimping/promo reward type thing. Like, for every new person you get to participate, you get to submit an extra icon that week. But not everyone submits the max anyway, so I don't know if that would really be helpful. If anyone has any advise that would be great. :-)

The Glee Project is recording for me to watch tomorrow. I don't know if I'll watch the whole season, but I at least wanted to see what the first episode was like. *fingers crossed*
switch842: (AVPS: Red Vines)
We had everyone over here for Mother's Day today. It was very nice. I got a grill! Woot! Yes, I actually asked for a grill for Mother's Day. Found a very nice, small, cheap one at Home Depot the other day, so it is MINE! We grilled burgers and brats, had some fruit salad, pasta salad, deviled eggs. All that good stuff! It was delicious. I am stuffed.

And now, our adventures to Urbana... )

So, that's that! Had a great time and am very, very firmly a StarKid For Life. :-)
switch842: (CK: FacePalm)
And I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

I... have become a hipster. At least cosmetically.

I was getting ready to head out one morning and doing one last mirror check to make sure everything was in place, etc and it just hit me. I have the fauxhawk, the aviators, the plain tee with cardigan from Urban Outfitters, skinny jeans and Converse.

What has happened to my life? Ugh.....
switch842: (Glee: Blaine Fence)
So, while I'm procrastinating on writing my Blaine Anderson Rockstar AU fic, I've been fiddling with some of the multimedia elements that may be contained within said fic. One of these is Blaine's album - both in design and track listing. Below are some rough drafts and I was wondering what you guys thought. Also, I need more songs! LOL So, any song titles you can think of would be awesome! :-)

Back here to save your flist )

So, what do we think? On the right track? Totally off base?
switch842: (Glee: Kurt :D)
That vid bunny from yesterday? Totally now in official pre-planning stages. The lyrics are in a Word doc for plotting, I am downloading all the Blaine episodes from Amazon so I don't have to use clips with the network logo crap all over them. I may need to wait a few eps to see if there's more footage I can possibly work with. We'll see, I guess. By the way, can anyone recall any eps where we see Kurt & Blaine walking together? Besides the slo-mo hallway after their first meeting that is. ;-)

In general, today has been an exercise in patience. Martouf is getting like four new molars at once, so he is very, very crabby. Work exploded on us this morning. And, ugh, it's something I should have caught. I really, really should have. I did catch half of it, not that it ended up making any difference as we never reached a decision on how to fix what was going to go wrong before it did. Even if I had caught everything, it probably would have still exploded. Perhaps not to the extent it did, but it still would have been bad. We have a temporary solution in place. It's a pain in the ass, but it's the best we can do for now. The permanent fix won't be in place until May as it involves some fairly heavy IT changes. Grr....

On the upside, I did get to go to ballet today. My parents came down to watch Martouf since he has not been doing well with the babysitting there. And today would have been just awful with the teething. So, that was good. It was a good class, too. I feel sore, for sure, but the good sore. Hopefully, I'll be able to walk tomorrow. The shins are achin' a bit as we speak. Took some ibuprofen, may need to ice later. *fingers crossed*

Oh! And that haircut I was contemplating the other day? I found a pic of it not styled like that and it's pretty much your basic chin length bob. So, I don't know. I'm so waffly on these things. LOL

And I think that's it. How's y'all's Friday going?
switch842: (AVPS: Red Vines)
Been a few days since I've posted. Things got a little crazy for a few days, but I think we're through the worst of it. Nothing bad, just stuff to be done OMGNOW!!! LOL But it is done (mostly) so, it's all good. :-)

Then on Thursday the hard drive on my work laptop crashed and burned. Awesome. So I ended up having to take Friday off since I had no computer with which to do work. Which was fine since that was my first day of dance class and that ended up being kind of hectic. So, I go into the office today and call to let them know I'm there so someone can come pick it up to look at it. So most of today was spent in the office, twiddling my thumbs and sort of working with my one coworker so I could say I maybe did something... But they finally got it fixed and I was able to log on when I got home. There's a couple little programs I need to finish installing, but no biggie. I can finish that up tomorrow. I'm just happy I was able to get through my emails from the last two days. That's always the worst.

Saturday we went and got a new car seat for Martouf for my car. He has definitely outgrown the little carrier we first had for him. And since he turns 1 TOMORROW!!! (FLAIL) he can now have the front facing seat since he's above the weight limit, too. YAY! :-D

I was hoping to perhaps go see the new StarKid show that just opened in Chicago, but I just see that it looks like they're sold out. :-( There's really only one day I'd be able to go, so I'm holding out hope that some tickets will get released. *fingers crossed*

WE BOOKED VEGAS!!! Yay!!! We're flying out Wednesday morning and back Sunday morning. I'm soooooooo excited. Trying to work out details with [livejournal.com profile] chelle110 and [livejournal.com profile] rainbowmcgee09 for them to join us for part of the trip. PAR-TAY! Woohoo!! ;-)

And I think that's it.... I may post later about the interesting Glee dream I had the other night. ;-)
switch842: (Misc: Karl Red)
Something that's somewhere between "Didn't Like It" and "Liked It." You know those movies that were just OK. You may not necessarily watch them again, but you don't feel like you just wasted two hours having sat through it. They were just "Meh." /randomthoughts
switch842: (SG: Daniel Bounty Smile)
...but just some things I would like to do/accomplish this year.

  • VID MORE! LOL I have like 8 vids on my TO Do List and I'd like to do at least 4. That's one every 3 months, which I think is very doable for me. Included in this is possibly actually beginning work on my epic Stargate as Spamalot video. Perhaps to be finished sometime next year (2012) which will be 5 years after the last episode aired. Which is kind of insane to think about, actually.

  • Sign up to art for the SPN/J2 Big Bang again. I really had a lot of fun doing it in '09 and would like to give it a shot again. I don't know if I would vid like I did for that one, but something. :-)

  • Work on my iconing. I feel like I've been stuck in a rut and just kind of following tutorials. I'd like to work more on finding a style of my own and really finding out what Photoshop can do.

  • Finish some of the fanfics I've had half-started since who knows when. Hopefully first on that list to be completed in the next week is the Glee fic that's been driving me nuts. :-)

  • Comment more. On personal posts and fanfics I like. I always read everything all y'all write, but I don't always feel like I have something worthwhile to say other than "Cool" so I've kind of refrained. And I also think about how I would like more comments on my own fannish endeavors so perhaps I should just start returning the favor.

  • Go to a Christian Kane concert! Hehe. He better get that Joliet show rescheduled!!

So, in conclusion, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! May 2011 be as good if not better than 2010 was. ((HUGS))
  • switch842: (CK: Singing)
    Or crazy randomness. Whatev... ;-)

    • I picked up Christian's new CD at Target the other day, even though I DLed it the day it was released. There's something about having a physical CD that I like. Plus I wanted the lyrics sheet on the fold out BUT THERE ISN'T ONE!! :-P So, here's the weird thing though - IT'S CENSORED!! The "ass" at the end of American Made is silenced out and in Making Circles, it's "sick and tired of messing up" instead of "fucking up." I had no idea censoring like that was still going on. The DLed album is not censored, though, so I'm glad I have that. :-)

    • Macy's is now open 24 hours until Christmas. o_O Yeah, I'm crazy and went to the mall today to get a few last minute small things and saw the sign. That just seems a little excessive.

    • How Kenny Loggins Ruined Christmas Just click.

    And that's all folks!

    Um, stuff

I am officially done with work for this year! Woot!! I had enough PTO saved up to take the next two weeks off, so I am. Hubby is, too, so we're gonna have a little stay-cation, as they say. Should be good times, I think.

Had a strange dream the other night that ended with me and my friends in a biker bar doing Rock Band karaoke to Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror. Bri, I think you were there and [livejournal.com profile] squigglysarah and maybe [livejournal.com profile] queeneve_84? I think? Anyway, we were driving through this really shitty neighborhood in a massive land yacht and then found this bar. It was HUGE. Like a whole city block big, 3 stories. MASSIVE. And, yeah, we did karaoke. I was on drums. It was quite strange.

I'm writing my first Glee fanfic. It's a really odd thing. Not sure where the idea came from. I'm sure it'll get quite a mixed reaction if I ever finish and post. If it gets any reaction at all...

Watched Easy A the other day. It was better than I was expecting, actually. Not that I was expecting all that much, but still. It was a cute little film. I kind of understand Emma Stone's Golden Globe nom a little better. :-)

And I think that'll do it.

    Thanks!

Thank you to whoever sent me the Holiday Cookies! They are truly scrumptious and put me in the mood to do some baking!

Sadly, I did not do any baking tonight. I did, however, color my hair. The gray situation was getting out of control and I can sadly no longer afford to get my color done at the salon. So, back to home dying it is. If anyone's interested it's this color. I had some reddish low-lights already in my hair, so I didn't want to attempt to go lighter and turn my hair orange. It looks OK, a little more red than I was expecting, but that'll probably fade as red does. But, meh. Whatever. Once this is done, I'll probably go a little more blonde as that's what I prefer.

So, yeah. That was my night. How's y'all's going? ;-)
    switch842: (SPN: Matt VanCon)
This is mostly cos I haven't posted in a few days and I feel like I'm neglecting y'all. So, let's see what's going on Chez Switch...

Martouf is THISCLOSE to crawling. We actually went and bought gates in preparation. One of them is up. It's for the stairs going down from the main level where we spend most of our day. And I think he's getting close to the weight limit for the Snap & Go car seat we have. Luckily, we do have the next size up we need. He's getting so big! *sniff*

Had a haircut today. Just a trim, nothing drastic. But it came at a good time, too as the SPN con is NEXT WEEKEND!! I also picked up a couple sweaters from Lands' End while I was at the mall. They have this new Canvas line with some really neat stuff. Just up my alley. :-) I got this cardigan in heather gray. I really got that to go with the dress I'm planning to wear for Martouf's baptism. Plus, it's simple and versatile and will go with lots of things. I also picked up this one in navy blue. It just looked so cozy and comfy and too good to pass up! ;-)

Oh! And between the haircut and Lands' End I now have the chance to win $5000!! $1000 from the salon and $4000 from Lands' End/Sears. It's one of those go on-line and fill out a two minute survey for a chance to win. So, why not? I could use $5K. :-)

    What else...

Hubby got in a little fender bender last Friday on his way home from work. Everyone is fine, it's just one of those really annoying things. He was in the right turn lane where they had a green arrow that changed to yellow. And because there are now red light cameras EVERYWHERE, the lady in front of him slammed on her brakes and hubby just couldn't stop in time. He's mostly just mad at himself. Cos this is his first accident and he's always mocked me for all the accidents I've been in. So now, I get to mock him back. Aren't I an awesome wife? ;-)

    So, I think that's it! :-)
    switch842: (CK: FacePalm)
I managed to leave the house this morning without make-up on. I NEVER do that. I always wear make-up. I know, it's weird, but yet, even on weekends, I put on make-up. My skin is weird and if I don't put make-up on it ends up being this just nasty oil slick by the end of the day. But I got home from work and went to the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and I was like, "Wait a minute... What??" Yeah, completely bare-faced. Oy...

I know what happened. When I was getting dressed, Gabe started getting fussy so I went to go put him down for his morning nap. And when I went back to finish getting ready, I somehow just forgot that I hadn't put make-up on yet. So, yeah. Babies....
    switch842: (SPN: Dean Lazarus)
After [livejournal.com profile] castielfest, I decided I needed to cleanse my pallet with something, so I signed up for the J2 Fights Crime fic challenge. It's going to be much more light-hearted and cracky than Casfest was. It's based off the They Fight Crime! generator. You sign up and then the mod is going to randomly assign everyone a prompt based off the generator. But instead of They Fight Crime! it's more They Have Epic Sex! kind of thing. LOL For example (from the user info): Jared's a globe-trotting overambitious werewolf with a mysterious suitcase handcuffed to his arm. Jensen's an artistic hip-hop advertising executive who believes he is the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian queen. They fight crime! fall in love! This is gonna be fun! ;-)

Had a couple more wacky dreams recently. Sadly, none were that kind. :-( The first one was Misha worked at the same company I did. But it wasn't the company I actually work for. Just some random place. Anyway, he was like part of management and I was one of the plebian workers. Anyway, I had left my computer for something and I come back to see him and some other guy looking at it. And I start freaking out thinking I'd left something open for them to mock me about. But the thing that stuck with me the most was what Misha was wearing: dark blue jeans, red t-shirt and this GORGEOUS tan/butterscotch colored leather jacket. It was a little longer than a reagular jacket, kind of like a blazer. Six buttons and there was this dark embossed area that went around the chest in a beautiful design. So, so gorgeous. No idea why I remember that particular detail, but I do. Then there was another wacky dream this morning, but I can't remember anything now for the life of me. :-(

So, every time my husband sees me messing around in Photoshop or futzing the CSS coding for LJ stuff he always asks me, "So, do you like doing X? Would you like to do that for a living?" And I know what he's getting at. He'd like me to do a job that is something I actually like rather than just a job. And possibly also a job that I could permanently do from home. But the thing is, if I did want to do any of that for a real job, I would need to go back to school. Sure, I can take existing things and manipulate them and alter little things. But it's not like I could just open up a window and whip up a web page from scratch. I'm not sure I want to, either. I mean, I like doing all that stuff now cos it's just for fun. If it became a career, I dunno... That might take the fun out of it? Having to deal with pissy clients who want everything just so and won't understand why it can't be. So, yeah. Anyway, not sure where that's going. Just rambling....
    switch842: (CK: FacePalm)
So, I have a Creative Zen mp3 player. When I got my new laptop I went to install the software that goes along with it. Not so surprising, it's not compatible with Windows 7. Not a big deal, my old laptop still works, I'll just keep it installed on there for awhile until I can find a fix or update. So, I go to the Creative website and after A LOT of digging, I find a DL that is supposed to update the software to be compatible with Win7. Awesome! I DL and attempt to install.

    Here's where things get awesome.

The DL is an update to the existing software. I cannot install the current software as it's not compatible with Win7, so I can't install the fix as there is no software for it to update.

    What. The Fuck.

How does that make sense? Oy...

Guess I'll just ask hubby later if I can install it on our server that's still XP.
    switch842: (SPN: Dean Jig)
    SLEEP IN! LOL

The little guy is at his grandparent's for a little overnight visit. Hubby and I had a real date last night - dinner and a movie. We went to see Toy Story 3. It was so good! If you haven't seen it, you should. I got a little teary, I will admit.

Now, about the SPN casting spoiler... )

    WE'RE BACK!

    Jul. 5th, 2010 06:17 pm
    switch842: (SPN: Dean Jig)
Back from a lovely weekend away. And boy, was it great.

Started off Friday night with the Rob Thomas show. On my way down on the train, apparently some shit exploded at hubby's work, so I ended up having to meet him there. Then it ended up taking awhile to get everything sorted, so we didn't leave his office until 5:45 (the show started at 5:30). Then we had to stop and get dinner on the way, so we got there about 6:15. But it was free, so I wasn't too upset. And since we got there so late, it was super crowded, so we just went in one of the side entrances and plopped ourselves down in the back. If you have me on Twitter, you saw what we saw. LOL But then, we moved to the side a little bit and hey! There's a video screen!! I got a few pics of that with my regular camera, and they look kinda OK. I need to check them on the laptop and if they are, I'll get them up. We got there as he was doing Streetcorner Symphony. Then the rest of the set list played out pretty much like the set list from his concert back in November. But it was still all good. :-D We didn't stay for everything as we wanted to get on the road before it got too late and crowded.

Then we were off to Indiana. It ended up just being us, his mom and ex-step-dad (yeah, whatever). So it was a pretty chill weekend. Chris was a little upset since his one brother was supposed to come out with another friend, and since they didn't, he didn't get to go out on the speed boat ad go tubing. :-( I got a little sunburned Saturday on my back, but it's not that bad.

And now we're home! I managed to catch up on my flist, but if there's anything important I might have missed, feel free to point it out. I'm not even going to bother trying to catch up on Twitter. LOL
    switch842: (Leverage: Eliot/Sophie)
So, you know all those online dating sites? Well, hubby and I agree that if, today, we were each to sign up for one, they would never match us up in a million years. We are definitely a case of opposites attract. It amuses me...

Oh, and you know what makes me roll my eyes REALLY HARD? Have you seen that commercial for the touchless home soap dispenser? I forget who makes it. But it is the most useless invention ever. You know why? Cos what is it that people do after they touch the completely filthy and germ ridden soap pump? THEY WASH THEIR HANDS! DUH! But someone is making like a million dollars off that dumbass invention. Ugh...
    switch842: (SPN: Dean/Castiel Wall)
This is a Dean/Castiel post-apocalyptic (but not post 5x22) fic. And it is AMAZING. If the baby wasn't sitting two feet from me, I would have been an absolute sobbing mess. Anyway, go read. Now. My Eyes Are An Ocean

And now the amusing anecdote. Well, it's amusing to me at least. I went out today to visit my old doc to introduce her to Gabriel before I go back to work in two weeks (sob!). Anyway, on the way there I drove by this sort of rundown motel. It's totally one of those places Dean and Sam would stay. I actually scanned the parking lot for an Impala. There's also a tavern right next door! I wish I could have stopped and gotten a picture of it. LOL
