I'm never pre-ordering anything again

So, I pre-ordered SG1 S10 and SGA S3 through Amazon last week. I saved $20 by doing so. I get an e-mail on Monday that my package has shipped. Yay! Um, no. I check the tracking again today as I still don't have it. Status says "Mon Jul 23 - Carrier notified to pick up package." Yeah, my DVDs are still sitting with Amazon.

WTF?!?!?!

Is it just me, or when you pre-order something, do you not expect it to ship in time to get to you on the release date? Isn't that the whole fucking point? I'm pissed at the point. I want my fucking DVDs. It's been 2 days. The USPS should have picked up the package by now. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Well at least you can order the whole Season!!!! Here in the UK we can only get SG1 Season 10 Vol 1!!!!! If I want to have the whole Season I have to order from the States (Region 1) and pay double the shipping costs.

I absolutely never pre-order anything, especially from Amazon (Columbia House or BMG fall into the same category). They are actually not allowed to ship new releases until on the day of the release because it would be too risky for a customer to receive it prior to its actual availability. It makes sense to me. But then, that just means if I really want an item I'll go to the store to get it so I can actually have it on the day it comes out.

Yeah. I guess I get that, but then what's the point of pre-ordering if I'm not gonna get it for like a week after it's out?

I guess I'm just most pissed that it's still sitting in Amazon's warehouse two days after it should have left. Grr.

Actually, Amazon has been pretty good about their shipping. I preordered HP7 and it arrived Saturday, the same day I could have went to the store, fight the crowds and bought it.

I received Season 10 today, when was it available in stores?

And yeah, same as the other commenter - I've heard never get preorder from Amazon - you'll find out that other people who didn't do that, got the item before you.
