I don't do this very often, but I found this one yesterday, and it's pretty much perfect. It's a Doctor Who (with Jack)/Firefly crossover. I know, it sounds wacky and strange. But this author did it so well, that I could see it really happening somewhere. Everyone is perfectly in character and the plot that brings everyone together is entirely plausible. There's some really fantastic stuff between River and the Doctor. And this really lovely scene between Jack & Inara. Kaylee is adorable as ever. Rose is brilliant. It's just, you have to read it. It's called Out of Joint. Just go read it now. You won't be sorry.

Thank you.

The story is terrific and very funny. The characters are right on the mark, although I think the Doctor is Tennant and not Eccleston, and isn't this the early Jack who traveled with Eccleston? I wonder how he knows so much of this era? I thought he was/is from not too far in the future. Putting the Time Lord and even Jack in a chronology is a tricky business in any case. Just dealing with the tenses is difficult.

I'm not done with it yet, but I'm enjoying it immensely. I love Serenity's crew and passengers’ interaction with the Doctor and his "Companions". LOL. The author reproduced everyone's style of speech wonderfully. I know how difficult that can be. I read “Star Trek” books. The authors, more often than not, fail on more than one character. This author duplicated Mal's pioneer vocabulary and his amusing frustration at not being able to control his crew. Jayne was exactly Jayne and Kaylee was especially warm and charming.

The humor was right on the mark, too. I laughed out loud at the Doctor referring to Jayne as a Cro-Magnon. Jack's antics were so...Jack.

My favorite moment so far though was when the Doctor told River to stop looking deeply into him, that it was his burden, not hers.

Good stuff. Very good stuff.

Kudos to HonorH for doing a terrific job of making this crossover work, and work very well.

Yeah, I definitely read the Doctor more as Ten than Nine. But with timelines being so wacky with what they are, it didn't throw me off that much.

I'm totally with you on the author getting everyone's voices. That's really why I ended up reccing it. Cos s/he got EVERYONE spot on. It's really amazing when an author can do that. Especially with a cross-over.
